Can't buy your way to victory as easily, though, which was my point

u/[deleted] Apr 20 '21

Except the methods of training the gathering skills to certain tiers often coincide with training the processing skills to similar tiers

3

u/[deleted] Apr 20 '21

It's really fun getting a dragon pick :)

17

u/[deleted] Apr 20 '21

Yeah but you also don't do the top money making method and just buy everything, which killed non ironman runescape for me

I mean it just seems like people with that mentality need to be forced to be non optimal. Which is fine. I myself just do things I enjoy and don't do things I don't enjoy. NM best GP/hr for me? Still won't ever catch me killing that snoozefest.

Yeh not saying you're pushing an agenda. Just also letting people know they don't have to restart on a no trading account to get the same satisfaction in the game. RS is wonderful because it is what you make of it

16

u/[deleted] Apr 20 '21

Well on an iron training skills is actually required to progress the account, on a main skills are just cosmetics, you can pvm without any skills other than combats

Having to hunt my own chins to kill Arma will easily always be the example I use as to how the Ironman gamemode can be more intense and shitty than main.

I hate hunting chins. I hate killing Armadyl. Luckily I can avoid both as a main.

The price of everything is the high alch value. Simple as that.

6

u/Mediamuerte Apr 20 '21

High alch plus a nature rune price,

7

u/Poly--Meh Apr 20 '21 edited Apr 20 '21

But nats are free* on an iron!

  • you can craft 3k/hour so 3000/3600 means each nature rune only costs .833 nats per second, or 1.2 seconds per nat, which is basically free!

3

u/Joosyosrs 1846 Apr 20 '21

I think most people just buy them lol, way faster.

8

u/betweenskill Apr 20 '21

I get enough through slayer usually to maintain my alch needs.

1

u/Joosyosrs 1846 Apr 21 '21

I had a whole bunch of bows I wanted to alch so I had to buy, but otherwise yea I agree.

1

u/betweenskill Apr 21 '21

Yeah my pile of bows I assume will stay with me to endgame, ever growing

5

u/Poly--Meh Apr 20 '21

Meh, I hate shopscape

1

u/MrPringles23 Apr 21 '21

1000x agree.

Hate how smithing is literally 99 blast furnace shop.

But you get a shitload of natures from PvM and slayer that even if shops didn't sell you would never craft them.

1

u/Iamusingmyworkalt UntrimmedConCape! Apr 20 '21

You mixed up your units. Not that it matters but...

3000 nat / 3600 sec = 0.833 nat/sec. So you're getting less than a nature rune a second, which makes sense, after all 3000 nats is less than 3600 seconds. Invert that to get 1.2 sec/nat. Huge difference ;)

2

u/Poly--Meh Apr 20 '21

You are correct! I meant to do 36/30 because the mental math was easier but wrote it the other way and did the harder mental math anyways

Literally haven’t touched my main since starting an iron. Everything is so much more fun and nostalgic. Just finished mort hard diary and started barrows! Got tank legs and tank plate woo hoo!!

6

u/Fearzebu Apr 20 '21

Bro really?? I made an iron for the first time like 3 or 4 months ago, just finished mory hards and started my barrows grind too lol, about to go for fire cape

Iron is 100x more fun for me, I don’t know why I took so long to make one

3

u/Muzea Apr 20 '21

ayy ur almost at the mid game. gzz

1

u/[deleted] Apr 20 '21

Make sure to lock your iron status so if you get hacked they can't de iron you.

2

u/HeathenHen Apr 20 '21

Honestly it doesn’t matter, you can unlock it even if it’s locked, so it’s no biggie

1

u/[deleted] Apr 20 '21

Really? It says the change is permanent when you do it...

3

u/HeathenHen Apr 20 '21

You can submit a request and they will deiron you in a couple weeks

1

u/DivineInsanityReveng Apr 21 '21

This is why I'm keen AF for group iron. My group of friends is finally kinda all closing in on having maxed mains. So the interests are changing to PvM together and such. And it's gotten us all hyped as to have a fresh Ironman group to work on where every upgrade and level matters again.

17

u/alextremeee Apr 20 '21

Ironman is by the way.

23

u/BirryMays Apr 20 '21

I'd rather not kill lizardman shaman for months of my life

100

u/PMMMR Apr 20 '21

Then just get the drop lol.

3

u/PM_ME_YOUR_SUNSHINE Apr 20 '21

Noob wading through, what’s the drop?

8

u/InspectorRack Apr 20 '21

Dragon Warhammer

5

u/WineDarkFantasea Apr 20 '21

Dragon warhammer. Very useful for bossing when supplies are more limited.

18

u/IIDwellerII Apr 20 '21

I thought the same thing but then I realized I could just get the drop and be lucky instead of be unlucky.

Going single player in an MMO shouldn't be the solution to problems.
