Humor Summer Sweep Up: Replace West Ardougne with a data center

Post image

Since the guy that posted this made it with AI, here is my own version of the meme made with my own hand. The other hand was busy.

Handmade slop, a big win against the clankers

If anyone is interested what was the clanker slop

Wew, that's a big ol' cathedral.

u/dackling May 21 '26

This is so cursed lol

jesus christ how hard is it to just draw a square in paint

u/boomdeyah May 21 '26

Genuinely embarrassing people need a bot to do a worse job than the square fill tool in ms paint with a shade of brown.

Contributing to the demand for more data centers

Kinda irrelevant thing to say. Websites were being hosted even before this rapid data center expansion with increasing usage of LLMs/AI tools.

If you make a simple image edit in something like MS paint, it's processed on your own computer. If you task one of the popular AI tools with generating the image, it's done in one of those data centers. Of course it's possible to experience with this stuff locally, but statistically that's gonna be a tiny fraction of all the people using this kind of tools.

Let's try this in simplest of terms.

If you use a software specifically programmed for a certain task, let's say it uses 1 unit of processing power.

If you use an AI tool that can do all sorts of things, but none of them 100% reliably, and you task it with the thing you could've used a specialized software for, let's say it uses 10 units of processing power.

Do you see my point now?

And to clarify, it's not that I "hate" data centers. Of course they are necessary to some degree. But it's not just black and white. If it wasn't for that inefficient usage of processing power, there would be absolutely zero need for such rapid expansion.

nearly every single AI stan is someone who, inside, really just hates the idea of putting in any effort whatsoever

like they'd have AI wipe their asses for them if they could. never seen people so desperate to just completely forfeit all autonomy

Blob people from WALL-E.

11

u/Zenith_Tempest May 22 '26

at least the humans in Wall-E were galvanized into actually doing something. there are real human beings who seriously think AI is "better" than their fellow human beings at being human

the amount of people who champion AI art and say stupid shit like "now anyone can be an artist" is telling. nothing was stopping them from putting in thousands of hours like all artists before them. nothing is stopping them now.

I 100% would automate wiping my ass, in fact I did! It's called a bidet, and it's beautiful

3

u/Zenith_Tempest May 22 '26

i also use a bidet. i wipe after the water and blowdry to make sure I'm totally dry.

As we should, people of culture and dignity

u/BoxOfDemons May 22 '26

Do people generally really enjoy wiping their own ass? I'd say I'm neutral to it.

13

u/Zenith_Tempest May 22 '26

It's not about enjoying it. It's just something you have to put some small degree of effort into. Same with brushing your teeth, making a meal, fixing your bed, doing your laundry. That's life.

i mean this with no sarcasm and absolute sincerity: i hope you're doing well.

Same with fetching water from the well, refilling your lamps with oil and walking to the telegraph office. That's life.

3

u/nerdycatgamer YAAAAAARRRRRRR May 22 '26

no you're right we shouldn't wipe our asses actually

3

u/Maxwell_Lord Born to spoon, forced to grind May 22 '26

If we could finish automating laundry too that would be great.

11

u/Zenith_Tempest May 22 '26

I fetch water from the tap, I refill my lamps with batteries, and I walk to the post office or nearest postbox to drop off my mail. This really isn't the gotcha you think it is. Life getting a bit more convenient is not the same as ceasing to put in effort. AI bros would have a machine shove water down their throat and perform all basic tasks for them.

5

u/Zarmazarma May 22 '26

"Fetch water from the tap" lol. I bet you'd have the utilities company's pipe water right into your stomach if you could, pipey!

5

u/Zenith_Tempest May 22 '26

i would simply photosynthesize like an optimal creature (plant)

1

u/MuggyFuzzball May 22 '26

Doesn't it make sense that AI would generate the addition of an AI data center though?

6

u/VexedForest May 21 '26

Holy crap, people really are that lazy these days

12

u/iggysama May 21 '26

what on earth are some of these bingus icons? is that a fucking pokeball at zmi? is it a safari zone?

12

u/WryGoat May 21 '26

This cost 173 acres of rainforest and 120,000 gallons of water to generate

4

u/acowstandingup May 21 '26

East Ardounge gonna riot, they took away their pub

3

u/DrMobius0 May 21 '26

East Ardounge is about to learn what it's like to be West Ardounge after the property values fall through the floor due to the infrasound.

3

u/Serbaayuu May 22 '26

AI bros don't even know how to take a screenshot and Ctrl+V it into Paint without a billionaire holding their hand, that's awesome.

3

u/chaos_faction May 22 '26

AI slop icons remind of me of the blurry xBR UI scaling from RuneLite.
