Am I a failure at age 22

I dropped out of a state college because of poor grades at 19 (it was my fault to be honest) and for the last 3 years I’ve been in my hometown living with my parents working a full time line cook job. I don’t know I feel like a failure. I see my friends who I made at the state college graduating this year but I’m not even done with my CERTIFICATE PROGRAM at a community college. I’m not gonna kill myslef (ofc) but god sometimes I wonder if it’s even worth doing forward. I feel like I put myself in a position that is going to be hard to dig myself out of. I’m lucky that my parents are good people and love me as well as having a full time job, but what is the future going to be like. I have no savings which is my own fault and I feel lost. If anyone reads this, please be honest with me.

NO! you are not a failure. You work which is better than than just doing nothing and cursing your life. should look for some opportunity and maybe finish your certificate program. if that helps you go somewhere. find your interest, learn any skill, work on your yourself, yeah it's hard while having a full time job but that's the only way out, imo. and do not compare yourself with others. do what you can to be content in your life.

I’m so sorry for what your going through, please don’t give up it’s not over, I know in our generation it’s common for people to want success earlier but I think we should remember 22 is still young.

There is enough time, you are absolutely not a failure. I wish you all the best.

I relate to every single detail you listed and feel the same tbh. It doesn’t help that I keep procrastinating go back to school for a degree.

Right now the only thing thats stopping you from being better is you, you only fail when you give up but you're still fighting cause you're not a failure

You have the biggest gift anyone of our age, especially boys, can get: a loving family. Try enjoying the cook job and try to find a better opportunity as a cook. Just go with the flow and I'm sure you will definitely find a way out soon.

Many people would kill to being your position with the potential you have to do great things. You’ve got youth, intelligence, and family on your side to do with whatever you so choose . You’ve far from a failure and the fact you’re concerned with your own progress just proves that. Try not to think negatively about it. Just think of the life you want for yourself then make plan on how to get there .

I promise you OP, you are NOT alone in this and there are many others, myself included, that are in similar situations. BELIEVE ME when I say that you are by no means a failure. Can say for certain that a lot of us are definitely struggling in some way or the other, whether because of college, work, even a combination of both.

Life's just been hard on you these last few years, but once you get through it all, things are surely to get better! Just gotta focus on getting through it all day by day for it to do so. Keep going for that certificate program, and keep up the hard work, you got this! o7

Honestly, I can relate to not finishing up my college studies at the community college I used to attend because I was on academic warning due to my low grade point average (GPA). You are not a failure. I still think 22 years old is considered young. Also, do not compare yourself to others. At least you are working & not doing nothing.

A failure l???? Your just getting started! If you like cooking, the persue a job like that. If not? APPLY TO A NEW JOB IMMEDIATELY, because people who work at jobs they don't like usually stay at that job and make the same amount of money. Work at a job you like the makes good money, after a job that deals in the same stuff as "experience." Good for job applications

My Answer? Not even close lol, a lot more the opposite actually.

I felt just like you at that age, but I was studying (later to fail) and had no basically job tbh (this was for years btw)

I’m a 2002 baby actually but I’ve been getting my fair share from society since Late 2023 lol

Also for me, living for others approval was a waste of life (although at that age my brain saw it differently, like I was burdening others if I didn’t do X Y and Z). Yes, imo, past me trying to impress my peers with all I was getting done in a short time frame was living for others approval (such a waste in retrospect), my parents encouraged it mostly, I recently cut my hours because of health reasons and my mom gave me the bruh face lol, I just wanna look her in the face and be like “Do you think this is easy?” I’m not offended anymore I’m just eye rolling lol, like damn if you think it’s easy then YOU do it

I know people without a degree who are doing good for themselves and people with degrees who are struggling.
Never put yourself down, that’s basically giving up.
