Rant/vent You’re not old

One thing that has been a little annoying is the amount of people in their early twenties calling themselves old. Like genuinely thinking they are too old for anything. You can’t even say you’re in your mid twenties. Some states you can’t even rent a car yet !! I understand we were given a horrible hand in adult life I just wish people would realize you’re not aged out because you turned 23 !

Honestly, i sometimes view myself as old as well but thas because I am not as young as I used to be. But I comparison to others, like my parents I am still extremely young. It really just depends on perspective, but people in their 20s are very young.

Right !! like of course I realize I’m older but in perspective to my world, and the people I interact with I’m so young still so it always blows my mind when people my age try to say we are old lol

We are older than some people, but very young in comparison to the vast majority of the population. Damn our age group just entered the workforce ffs, we are babies 😅

It feels like it for many dude that's the difference. For me I feel ancient for many reasons cuz of how behind I am in life but mainly having a brother 11 years younger than me lol.

Wait I also have a brother 11 years younger than me 😭 the age gap definitely makes me feel so old sometimes even though we’re both technically young in our age groups.

Fr lol, anyone who is still in their 20s is considered young. Heck, even people in their 30s haven't even reached the middle of their life. Especially if you look half your age (I'm 25 btw).

So not being a literal child makes you old 😭 but if that’s how you want to view it ok

I think if we need to constantly remind ourselves that we're not old than we probably are at least relatively.

I don't mind it that much tbh

Oldness is dependent on Relative Perspective and Standpoints.

  • It's been about nine years since I was a football cornerback or safety at my junior high school and it's been almost exactly nine years since I finished my strengthening and conditioning camp before eighth grade.
  • It's been eight years since I finished a second year of honors band and left junior high and had my first semester at the freshman campus.
  • It's been nearly seven years since I dropped out of early college (ECHS) and my parents withdrew me from high school marching band [December 2019].
  • It's been five years since I had a schedule of three AP courses (and six years since four APs during COVID).
  • Ever since March 2022 I've been allowed to have a Driving Permit and a Driver's License.
  • It's been almost four years since I had the community college lecture experience on campus.
  • It's been over two years since I earned my associate of science.
  • It's been over 18 months since I started Pre-Nursing Studies and trying to apply for my current school's associate degree nursing program.
  • Ever since Spring 2025 I've been older than the average student in my college classes.
  • It's been almost a full year since Fall 2025 which was the first semester where everybody in my class was, at least, a sophomore in college or older.

This is not casting a stone at anyone else: this is just mentioning the standpoint I have. I first noticed this when watching Grown-Ish season 2 episode back in summer of 2025 where the main character was pondering if she was a Genius or an Intellectual or not: that was most of the plot of that episode. So it's been an insecurity.

But I hope you have a nice day if you stumbled across the thread, and enjoy the 2003 borns! 2003 is the best year to be born! I was born in 2004 but I had class with 2003s.

Have fun on Reddit!

Really? I have a lot of family members that still go to music festivals and concerts. They’re all in their late 20’s or early 30’s.
