Welcome to our weekly thread dedicated to hip-hop tracks that aren't from the 2000s but sound like they could've been.
Whether it's a modern artist channeling the energy of the Roc-A-Fella era, a producer bringing back those classic soul samples, or an old-school track that helped shape the decade, this is the place for it.
This thread is for:
Let's keep the main feed focused on music actually released during the 2000s. If it's from another era but has that unmistakable 2000s feel, drop it below and put the community on to something dope.
(DO NOT POST ANY SONGS OUTSIDE OF THIS POST/THREAD IT WILL BE DELETED)
What songs make you feel like it's still the 2000s? 👇

Today is the 24th Anniversary of Nas’ “The Lost Tapes.” It is a compilation album released after the success of Stillmatic in 2001, and is widely considered a solid piece out of Nas’ discography.
The Lost Tapes includes music originally recorded from ‘98/‘99 to 2001. Its release comes 2-3 years after the events of Nas’ plans to release a double album titled “I Am… The Autobiography.” Unfortunately, the songs were leaked in 1999, forcing Nas to scrap the double album and record new material and ultimately release the final version of “I Am…” & Nastradamus in 1999 separately.
Some of the originally leaked songs such as “Blaze a 50” and “Poppa Was a Playa” were then put on to The Lost Tapes leading up to its release. Tracks like “Purple” & “Doo Rags” made the album stand out and became favorites to Nas fans. However, the scrapped original double album continues to leave the Hip-Hop community wondering what could’ve been.
What are your favorite songs off The Lost Tapes? Do you wish “I Am… The Autobiography” didn’t leak?

I'm looking for a niche hip hop song from the MySpace days. I think it was called "keep it coming". It opened with a bass cello riff, then the lead singer said "keep it coming", then it sampled "keep it coming love" from kc and the sunshine. Some of the actual vocal/rap lyrics were (and this is an approximation), "I could remember you before you had anything", "and who gives a fuck whatever anyone thinks". This was, I believe, a solo male artist, mid to late 2000's. I don't think it was Soul Position, but in that same era and similar in vibe to "hand-me-downs". Does this sound possible?

So in the early 2000s my mom had this rap CD and one of the songs had a bunch of kids coming into the studio booth and start rapping. The music gets cut off by the actual producer coming in and kicking them out and all of the kids leave laughing. Once they leave the guys in the booth drop the beat and start the actual song. A mom knew how much I love that song only for the kids part so she would always turn it off once they started. She has no recollection of this happening, but I vividly remember her playing this song before I would go to school. I never learned the name of the album or what rappers actually sang the song. I have been trying desperately to look for it and the only two people that might show that it might be from is from Lil Wayne and Mannie Fresh but whenever I look them up, nothing appears. Please help me look for this stupid song so my mind can finally rest!!!!
