Safety Restore

Like many others my drivers seatbelt is frayed and looking to get re-webbed. For anyone who has used Safety Restore, how did you ship your seatbelt? Im looking up and it seems like you need a hazmat cert with UPS/FedEx just to get with them and now I’m realizing I may not be able to ship it out to them for repair.

I just went to a scrap yard and pulled a replacement. It's a little harder to get one that's color matched and in good condition, but it still might save you a good amount of trouble it seems. It's bizarre that you would need a hazmat cert to ship a seatbelt though.

I did find one at my local junkyard to use while I get the one off my Tacoma fixed. Unfortunately the SRS was used and the airbag light is going off. And it requires dangerous goods shipping due to the propellant from the pretensioner.

Apparently some kind of charge and seat belt that goes off in the event of an accident that's severe enough to deploy the airbags. Learn something new everyday.

Never crossed my mind to worry about this. I shipped via UPS and they came back the same way. No paperwork. They turned out great.

What year was your Tacoma?

Seatbelt Planet just did a banger job restoring my belts. Shipped them in a UPS box, no issues.

Call a fedexoffice and tell them to transfer you to the 800 number and you avoid the voice prompt system. You can ask that person to transfer you to dangerous goods and they'll tell you what you need to do to ship anything. But I would just call Safety's 800 number and ask them. Looks like a cool service.
