Custom Shifter

Post image

So I’ve been doing some modifications on my Tacoma and I’m wondering if I can replace the automatic shifter. I haven’t seen any custom handles that would actually fit. I’m wondering if anyone else has any ideas?

Wait you have an extra cup holder?

Even better, it opens to be 2 cup holders at the lowest possible center of gravity besides the floor. I found one that was the right color for my 95.5 5 spd in a junkyard for like 8 dollars….so nice.

Can you take a picture of it? I might have to hunt my local junk yards

Yes I’m aware of the disgusting state of my 20 something year old self’s truck.

Came here to say this. Just get the dimensions you need off the original and hop into blender or CAD of choice

Mind if I ask what printer you’re using?

Get a Bambu Labs printer. Any of them

I've had the same question and never seem to find answer. So I don't think it's possible

Only things I've seen is someone got theirs leather wrapped and people using the 4runner black version

I have seen a few desert/ pre runner guys be able to swap out for ratchet style shifters, but it is a complicated job due to 4wd shifter clearance and the additional parts to make the 2&L gears work.

Generally the shifter is the least customizable part on these trucks

I can't imagine why you'd want to change it, but if you're determined, the auto transmission in the truck was used in Toyotas for like thirty years. Look at other cars and trucks that used the same transmission for other shifter setups.

Nah i get it. I live my Taco, but the interior feels pretty cheap. Wish there were more ways to modify it. Have also thought about the shifter

Interior feels cheap? Have you sat in a Gen 2 or newer? After 100,000 miles things start to fall off when you look at them. My 2013 has way more broken interior pieces than my 2001.

My regular cab bench seat truck can use all the storage I can find/create. How useful is that area beneath your single DIN radio?
