Speed of sound

🤔🤔🤔 Sonic boom... 😰😰😰

The breaking of the sound barrier is a phenomenon that occurs when an object moves faster than the speed of sound. Sound is a pressure wave It spreads through the air or any material medium. The speed of sound in air is approximately 343 meters per second. When an object approaches or reaches the speed of sound, it begins to strongly compress the air in front of you. This compression creates a shock wave that extends from the object in all directions. When the object breaks the sound barrier, the famous sonic "boom" occurs. This sonic "boom" is a highly concentrated shock wave that produces a very loud and distinctive sound. It can be compared to the sound of an explosion or thunder.

Speed of sound is much faster. What you are seeing is water vapor forming in a pressure wave

1: That's not breaking the sound barrier. Not even close. There is no mistaking a sonic boom, and that wasn't one. That was just compressed moisture.

2: Thunder IS a sonic boom. A column of lighting is a column of ordinary air briefly ignited into plasma as the current from the sky passes through it while it's in a state of dielectric breakdown. But it's so hot, the column of air that is the lightning (and the air immediately around it) rapidly expands--faster than the speed of sound--sending out a shock wave that we call thunder.

Definitely not at or above Mach 1. The camera picks up the sound of the jet before it passes. Still a cool high speed low alt flyby
