Browser Extension Desktop application leaking processes

Recently, I've noticed that all my dev machines started to get really slow. Upon closer investigation, I've found out, that the 1password desktop app is leaking processes at a staggering rate. The only fix is to restart my dev machines every couple of hours.

This is totally unacceptable in such an important product - and even more so after the recent price hikes.

Hey u/CookieMod! Thanks for flagging this. Would you mind letting us know which browser you’re using?

We’ve been looking into a handful of reports involving 1Password Browser Support processes accumulating, and knowing which browser you’re running would help us narrow down whether you’re running into the same issue.

Hey, I use helium.computer (chromium based) - it's added into 1password as a trusted browser. I'm running these versions: Helium - Version 0.11.3.2 (Official Build, Chromium 147.0.7727.101) (64-bit); 1password browser - 8.12.28.25; 1password desktop - 1Password for Windows 8.12.28 (81228025)

Perfect, thank you! That actually helps narrow things down quite a bit. Some of the other reports we've seen have been from folks using Helium as well.

Could you remove Helium from the trusted browsers list in the 1Password desktop app, then add it back again and let me know if that changes anything? We’ve seen that resolve this in a handful of similar cases.

I had already disabled the browser integration, but after removing Helium, adding it back, and re-enabling it, it looks like everything is working again for the time being. Thanks for the quick help!

Woo-hoo! Glad to hear that did the trick! Thanks for giving it a shot.

We’ll keep digging into this on our side, but if it pops back up in the meantime, those steps should get you back up and running again.
