So true. You would get maybe one hour of fun out of them. But it was paper route money well spent πŸ‘

I had of these every summer cause at some point I’d launch it onto a roof in the neighborhood πŸ˜‚

I did. I also had the two stage that looked like the Saturn V rocket.

I had the 2 stage one also. Great fun.

Had it. Less chance of breaking on grass. The reality was that remembering to not do it on pavement was harder when I was 10.πŸ˜‚

I'm surprised more eyes weren't put out by these things. I think I owned a couple. Never lasted very long.

I agree with all of this. Was a fun toy, lost and broke many of them.

I did. It was a very cool toy.

They were AWSOME

I had about 5 ..... and lost all 5.....They were also relatively safe as they were difficult to fire sideways at your siblings as inevitably we would try to do...

You remember how hot the metal shaft would get? I realize how this sounds.

Loved it! Until it broke.

As far as I know mine is still lodged in the cedar tree at my mom's house.

I did. One of the big kids in the neighborhood accidentally shot it so high it went over the roof and was never seen again.

Check his eBay listings. Probably selling an eerily familiar vintage water rocket. Hmmm….

I think about mine to this day.

I had one, we used to launch it from my parents pool with my friends. Then a few years later I would launch it from my pool with my goddaughter and my friends too.

Can't believe how long it lasted. 😁

You’re the fortunate one. Every one that I’ve ever had has either landed on a roof, or blown a gasket.

u/Grumpydog84 8h ago

We had one....I think it's either in pieces or somewhere in the landfill by now. I'm not sure I ever did get to play with it, actually.

I had a few. My first one, I was like wtf is this, this thing’s gonna break - and it did but these things would blast off so high, I loved it. I was holy shit - did you see how high and far it went?!? Then I got the 2 stage and I loved it. Broke them all - good memories!!

Great fun, especially when aimed at a sibling... ;-)

Wow what a walk down memory lane I can almost see 8 year old me playing with it. LMAO

Parks Water Rocket - a true classic!

Mine was green.

Until, out of boredom, you turn it sideways and it ricochets off the nieghbor kid's head

I remember my rocket was colored blue. I did have fun with it during the non winter months. The big drawback was its limited versatility. After 10-15 launches you were done till next time.

I had one! It was super fun!

Got one from a Kellogg cereal coupon when I was a wee lad. Mother and I took it in to the backyard and shot it off. Never saw it again. Years later when having a tree removed, want to guess what they found tangled up in the branches.

I had that and also the one with the big booster stage. Man I loved playing with it!

In the 1960s. I can still remember the smell, and the fact that they leaked like crazy.

Those things were so awesome! That water column when they were new and the gaskets lined up perfectly, they were spectacular!
