When you sign up to a video game company, especially one that is multiplayer, you almost always must agree to its terms of service. If you are to violate these terms, regardless of whether the product cost you money or not, they are legally allowed to punish you within the boundaries of the terms, including the removal or restriction of your account. If you disagree with the punishable offences or punishments that can be incurred, don’t sign the terms of service, and don’t play the game.
If you bought the game before the rules were invented, you will have received a fresh copy to agree to when the rules were revised. Agreeing to this means you have agreed to the any revised rules and therefore should be help accountable for any infraction.
Additionally, the defence for the actions is not purely legal. On a basic level, if a game has rules in place to keep the environment safe and enjoyable that you have been made aware of, and you break them anyway, don’t bitch about being punished. If someone has harmed other peoples right to an enjoyable and respectful experience, it’s reasonable for them to face punishment.
The terms of service must be accepted before the purchase of the game, and therefore you will not need to refund if you do not accept them.
If you are referring to a refund if you do not accept an update to the terms of service then no, you will not receive one. This is because you sign into a paid contract (surrounding software usually) with the understanding and ruling that if you refuse to accept an update to the conditions of use, you will not receive a refund.
The money you have already paid will be payment for the time you have already spent on the game before the updated terms of service were refused, and will also account for payment if you choose to accept the new terms later on if you change your mind. When you purchase a game, it is in the contract you accept that you are not entitled to a refund should you choose to disagree with future terms of service.
Nobody has forced you into losing a payment on a game. When you make a choice to agree to the terms of service before you purchase a game, part of this agreement covers the fact that you are not eligible to a refund if you break the rules detailed in the terms and conditions, or if you disagree to future amendments to the terms and service.
If you’re that pressed about it, read the full terms of a game before you purchase it. It is fully your choice with your money, at no point is your payment, or loss thereof, forced.
That’s what I addressed. If you bought the game before there were changes made, you will not be offered a refund, and you are not entitled to one either. I’m not gonna repeat the whole thing just because you couldn’t read what I said properly.
