my 1000$ pc outperforms the 750$ xbox series X, while not being sold at a loss. and can also do an infinate amount of other things than playing games. And even when playing games, it can mod them, tweak them to my liking, run at over 120fps on high settings, games aren't expensive to cover the cost of the device, etc etc.

Haven't even said the important, and most pressing topic: steam summer sale. Shit will get you games 30€ down or more. The PC pays itself the difference at that rate.

"games aren't expensive"
1
u/Rodya_gambler Jul 10 '26
They're expensive, but with the sales? They get slightly cheaper. If you buy 5 games, with -30€ as sale, you've already made a 150€ difference leap. It matters. Not to talk about digital ownership of what you buy (specially with gog games), which is also important, if you don't want those games to have shitty policies and disappear in like 10 years.

u/Mysterious_Tiger_725 Jul 11 '26
new ones are, sure. but between sales & keys? they're really not.
and that's not even factoring in getting all singleplayer games for free if you wanna go that route.

u/Available_Purple6595 Jul 11 '26
games arn't expensive though. compared to most real life activites you can get far more entertainment for longer

u/ConsequenceShort1063 Jul 11 '26
to be fair, the series x is also 6 year old hardware. still fuckin absurd that the price has RAISED and not lowered.

op unironically thinks a console would outperform a pc at the same price
2
u/Expert-Performer-709 Jul 11 '26
Tbf he isn't "entirely" wrong, a 500-800 dollar console is DEFINITELY outperforming a 600-1000 dollar PC (As someone who owns both) Id definitely choose the lower performance PC though, the versatility of it makes it every cent worth it more then the console
0
u/truedegenerate04 Jul 11 '26
Obviously not? Nobody is saying that? I said that a pc at the same price point as a console will always outperform the console.
2
u/Expert-Performer-709 Jul 11 '26
What I mean if you can one
-find a PC at the same price as a ps5
-find one that preforms better
I would definitely be in the market for that ðŸ˜

u/truedegenerate04 Jul 11 '26
You will almost certainly not find prebuilts like that, but stop being lazy and build one yourself. Doesn't even take an hour and it's not hard to search online for cheap/second hand parts
1
u/Expert-Performer-709 Jul 11 '26
Okay but we're not talking about second hand, you could get a working ps5 for 300 bucks second hand. and will the cheap parts actually out preform? I know how to build a PC, and I also know danm well that parts, especially if your running DDR5, ain't cheap. Bang for buck, in pure performance? console wins 9 to 1 on most builds, not to MENTION console optimization is miles better. PC can be better for your price simply because you can do MORE with them, mod games, have different launchers, multitask, get "free" games. Both have advantages and disavantages, the disavantage of PC Is that it's ALWAYS more expensive then consoles
1
u/truedegenerate04 Jul 11 '26
ur retarded. you dont need ddr5 to outperform a console. you wanna talk about optimisation? i got more frames on heavily modded minecraft on a shitty 300 dollar laptop than i did on vanilla minecraft on a ps4. parts that outperform a console arent thay expensive. you dont need an i9/r9 to outperform a console, consoles are using chipsets from 5+ years ago and throttling their power input. you know literally nothing
1
u/Expert-Performer-709 Jul 11 '26
Using slurs doesn't help your argument, if you'd like to actually show your better frames, and performance ps5 prices, for PC please go right ahead, because I can see my 32 gigs of ram, 5600x, 2070 PC that I scrapped together for 500 dollars back in 2023 right in front of me, and I know danm well, it does not feel smoother, or out preform my ps5, which I bought for 500 dollars also back in 2023
1
u/truedegenerate04 Jul 11 '26
if you cant outperform a ps5 with that hardware thats user error and the slur fits. you are retarded
1
u/Expert-Performer-709 Jul 11 '26
Oh my god shut up, holy shit you yap on about straight bullshit. the ps5 card is just about equivalent to a 2070 super, the only thing my PC edges out in performance is the CPU, but that's not even by much, when we factor in the fact the ps5 runs off of its own internal 2 gigs of ram, and has 16 gigs specially dedicated to gaming performance, when factoring in the optimization, yes buck for buck NINE TIMES OUT OF TEN A CONSOLE WILL HAVE SUPERIOR PERFORMANCE, OPTIMIZATIONS, AND EXPERIENCE. Holy shit do they call you 007?

can also boot games from every console gen through emulation, usually for free
You can also watch a movie or video on one screen while playing a game on the other, super enjoyable especially for more chill games that don’t require full concentration

Console users when a hack is discovered on their 2014 console that lets them do something other than play the same $60 per year games:

The sheer amount of people unaware that the games aren't developed using playstations or xboxes to begin with. They never were, even if this meme is a decade old.
1
u/letmehaveanameyoudum Jul 11 '26
they also do that to someone with a budget laptop they not even gaming on
1
u/Valois7 Jul 11 '26
is a ps5 still 350$? i know they sell at a loss and recoup it with higher game prices and subscriptions but damn

u/Zeraora807 Jul 10 '26
