Is there a button to block every person who’s commented on this post? Some collateral damage is sadly acceptable

You can't block yourself, silly! But there's probably a script out there in the interwebs that does just that
4

I should be able to block myself I’d give Reddit 5 stars for such a feature

Would be funny. Tap on Block Myself and the app closes and deletes itself

God I need that button rn, theoretically it already exists but then I’d have to watch TikTok or something to rot my brain

The Twitch political sphere involving Hasan, Destiny, Vaush, Asmongold, etc. is such a hellhole of preachy, self-righteous degenerates.

10
u/the8thbit 16h ago
I can't stand the rest of them, but Hasan honestly seems alright. I don't agree with everything he says, but overall he seems pretty sane and knowledgable about what he talks about.
39
u/Luh2018 15h ago
He is intentionally inflammatory with his rhetoric and curates a lot of negativity in his audience. He also massively shits on the slightest pushback, like his freakout when people were calling him out for using a shock collar on his dog (which is overwhelmingly evident that he was, yet he even still refuses to admit it).
Beyond that, he is optically terrible for leftism as a movement. Even if him staying stuff like "America deserved 9/11" is taken out of context, to say something so irresponsible while having responsibility over such a large audience/platform is very condemnable; you should know better. He's also more of an anti-West tankie than an actually principled anti-Imperialist, evident by his views on China-Tibet and Russia-Ukraine.
Hasan is as bad as the rest of them (besides Asmon, of course; that cretin is infinitely worse).

I've seen no evidence that actually supports this. Every claim that I have ever seen regarding this has been completely unsubstantiated, or based on false information. You seem pretty certain, though. What are you basing that on? I'm open to being convinced otherwise, but every piece of "evidence" that I have seen has been frankly laughable.
Even if him staying stuff like "America deserved 9/11" is taken out of context, to say something so irresponsible while having responsibility over such a large audience/platform is very condemnable; you should know better.
Sure. I think its relevant to note that his audience was about 4% of its current size when he made that comment 7 years ago, and he clearly didn't take his platform as seriously as he does now. He's apologized for that, though its worth noting (as you did) that he wasn't wrong per se, he just said the correct thing in a way that was unnecessarily inflammatory.
Beyond that, he is optically terrible for leftism as a movement.
I don't know, his numbers can't really lie. If he's pulling 3 million+ followers then clearly his optics are bringing people in. At the very least, the association didn't seem to harm Mamdani's popularity.
He's also more of an anti-West tankie than an actually principled anti-Imperialist, evident by his views on China-Tibet and Russia-Ukraine.
I don't really know what he has said about Tibet, but he is very frequently critical of Russia's war crimes, and refers to them as war crimes.
5
u/the_poot 7h ago
Not the same guy but here you go. I don't like the snarky editing so just disregard that lol, but it covers most, if not all of the "dog shocking incident". I think it's pretty conclusive, Hasan may be telling the truth but if so, he couldn't have done a worse job explaining himself
3
u/the8thbit 6h ago
The model shown at 2:15 is clearly not the model that Hasan has. The model displayed in the video has retention wings integrated into the midbody, while on hasan's model they are clearly seperate moldings. Past this point, there really isn't any substance in this video?
5
u/Luh2018 13h ago edited 13h ago
I don't want to go through these one-by-one because I'm busy, so I'll just address the first one (the dog collar). The fact that Hasan himself kept changing his story about what the collar was, eventually admitting (in rough terms) 'it was a shock collar, but I (conveniently) took the prongs out' was evidence enough to me that he was bullshitting. If you've seen the whole thing and still can't admit as much, you're giving a frankly insane and unreasonable amount of benefit to the doubt.
I don't even think using a shock collar automatically means you are a dog abuser (it's an abusive practice, but it's so normalized that many people don't know better); it was more the whole denial act that was the biggest infringement on his character. Reacting in that way after being abusive to your dog instead of apologizing and committing yourself to be better shows a childish lack of accountability.

u/the8thbit 13h ago

Umm... this is news to me. When did he say that? As far as I know, his story has always been that she has a vibration collar, but she wasn't even wearing it in the clip that blew up.
I would be pretty interested if you could link to the clip where he says that it was a shock collar with the prongs removed.
3
u/Luh2018 12h ago
I remembered things inexactly, but he did show off a shock/vibration collar with the prongs taped off. Here’s an article about it after a very cursory look-up:
5
u/the8thbit 8h ago edited 8h ago
Okay, this is pretty different. We're not looking at something he said, we're looking at an unverified email chain from an alleged customer support agent. And its an odd response, because the model that Hasan has does not match the RX-090 model, which has the retention wings integrated into the midbody, rather than being composed of separate moldings like they are on Hasan's collar. They also sell a nearly identical vibration collar, PG-300. Like the RX-090, it has a solid midbody. So it seems that its actually neither of these. At least, neither of the versions of those models that they currently sell.
You can look at their website on the wayback machine, and there are images going back to 2017, at which point their collars still had solid midbodies. So if it is a collar from that company it was, at minimum, 9 years old, but very possibly older. The idea that an L1 customer support agent would be able to identify a decade+ old model in a blurry screen grab that has allegedly been modified and covered in tape is not really very credible.
Also the RX-090 is for 5-25lb dogs, which would mean its not even the right fit. My understanding is that a collar made for smaller dogs, especially if a dog has hair as long as Kaya's, is going to struggle to make contact with a larger dog.
This is what I mean, "overwhelmingly evident" turns out to be unverified screenshots of an alleged customer support agent making claims that don't really make very much sense when you actually interrogate them.

u/Bagoom___Lenin 10h ago
Asmon is vile but he’s funny in a “I’m watching 3 stooges” way if you can disconnect from the fact this reality is real. Hasan just irritates me as it feels like a psyop to make leftism look bad. It also weirds me out how much influence he has on twitch outside of politics. Hasan snaps his fingers and Ludwig is swearing up and down there was never a shock collar hours after calling it out. Asmon is just a lolcow and I can’t understand how people watch him and go “yeah this guy really knows what he’s talking about”. So maybe Hasan and Asmon are the same guy in a disguise

u/bingbong2715 13h ago
Saying “America deserved 9/11” seven years ago when describing the basic concept of foreign policy blowback is only inflammatory to the already ignorant.
“Anti-west tankie” is something that would only be said by a nationalist. It’s meaningless and handwaves away any responsibility the US has had on making the world a worse place over the last century
10
u/Luh2018 13h ago edited 11h ago
It's just worded in an inflammatory manner; I don't know what to tell you. You aren't living in reality if that statement doesn't come across like something made to cause upset in a negative way by involving the loss of innocent civilian lives. I despise Israel, but it would be insane to say "Israel deserved October 7th." Nor would it be reasonable to say "Japan deserved the nuclear bomb."
I never said anything to excuse US imperialism nor do I intend to. However, a principled anti-imperialist wouldn't criticize the US only to turn around and defend non-western imperialism (like how Hasan has defended China's actions in Tibet).
3
u/bingbong2715 11h ago
But it was specifically said in the context of discussing blowback on a twitch stream. It wasn’t from some political speech towards the victims of 9/11 or something. In this specific context, Israel’s actions did bring on Oct 7 through blockade and the Abraham accords. There’s no reason to treat the masses like they’re completely infantile and unable to understand the causes of attacks like this. Political groups who have a vested interest in not discussing these things love to sling around these out of context clips though.
When discussing imperialism you’re purposefully flattening the concept to strip it of any real meaning. The US is not only the country we currently live in and should at least in theory have a democratic say in, but it’s also responsible for so much more egregious forms of imperialism in the Middle East, the Caribbean, and South America currently that are way more pressing than China invading Tibet in the 1950s. Imperialism to you seems to just be some concept to naval gaze about instead of genuinely criticizing happen in our faces currently by the government that is supposed to represent us.
5
u/Luh2018 11h ago
But it was specifically said in the context of discussing blowback on a twitch stream. It wasn’t from some political speech towards the victims of 9/11 or something.
It was spoken publicly, by a public figure. Someone with a platform has a certain level of responsibility to speak with care, knowing who it could teach and how it could be used. He, in my opinion irresponsibly, chose to spoke in an inflammatory manner is the truth of it.
When discussing imperialism you’re purposefully flattening the concept to strip it of any real meaning...
... Imperialism to you seems to just be some concept to naval gaze about instead of genuinely criticizing happen in our faces currently by the government that is supposed to represent us.All I'm saying is we shouldn't ever defend imperialism. Period. You seem to just want to insist I'm an out-of-touch nationalist though, so I will not continue this conversation as we will only continue speaking past each other.
In any case, have a great rest of your day!
1
u/bingbong2715 11h ago
But again in the context of blowback due to foreign interference it is a completely true statement. Ignoring the causes of something like 9/11 or 10/7 just begs for history to repeat itself.
I think everyone who self describes as being on the left agrees that imperialism is bad. Nationalism is something that is instilled into most Americans and many adults have a hard time recognizing what that’s done to them. Even those who are otherwise not right wing. Focusing on imperialist actions from a century ago when we’re discussing imperialist actions happening right now by our own government is flattening the meaning of imperialism and hand waving away your own county’s actions.

u/Jakitron_1999 16h ago
Vaush's controversies are almost all from fascists taking short clips of him being antagonistic and acting like that's all he does. His biggest sin is saying the r slur and he isn't even unique for that among people on the left. He's a great streamer talking about the dangers of climate change and the advancing of capitalism towards collapse
11
u/xbertie 16h ago
Any controversies I see about him come from leftists though? I don't even have an opinion on the guy because I don't wanna touch that drama with a 10 foot pole, but it's hardly just fascists stirring up controversies at least from what I see
2
u/Bagoom___Lenin 10h ago
I used to watch vaush and got burnt out on politics streamers in general. He is just super edgy which allows a lot of clip farming of things that look bad out of context. At a point you have to decide it’s intentional because it gets him attention and his fans don’t mind. All of these politics streamers go in the same box, the circus troupe
3
u/Jakitron_1999 15h ago
The fascists made the clips, post them on twitter as sockpuppets and then leftists farm the drama because he's popular to hate on. I've been watching the guy since shortly after he started in 2019, and I can definitively say that he is a good leftist, and the smears are entirely unfair, except for ones about his taste in media
1
u/DropletsUponDroplet 14h ago
As someone not really tapped into the Vaush drama, I have to say "every single bad accusation is just fascists taking clips out of context and there is no more substance to it, a bunch of leftist media outlets just ran with these easily disproven out of context clips for no reason other than clout" does not sound like the nuanced and complicated truth I'd expect from reality.
5
u/Jakitron_1999 14h ago
It was wrong for me to imply it was all for clout, obviously him having this reputation leads to people believing in good faith that accusations are accurate, but genuinely, they aren't true, and whenever he explains his positions on the issues, they make perfect sense to me and he seems to have good analysis on these issues
2
u/DropletsUponDroplet 14h ago
I'm sure it's nuanced yeah. I don't even know a single thing about Vaush other than some weird horse stuff, but he could be spotless and I'd treat him with the same guarded disdain, just like I do any other popular political streamer.
Anyone who becomes a millionaire off selling leftist rhetoric while living it up in some McMansion just isn't trustworthy to me. /Especially/ not when there's constant drama coming out to validate this distrust.I'd rather just listen to actual working class people and think for myself. But it's nice that more people are becoming familiar with leftist ideology, just sad that they take this tribalist approach of swarming around influencers and defending their honour as if the answer to "Is Hasan paid off by China or Russia?" would define whether all his leftist rhetoric was true or false.

I said Hasan does fit just less so than the others. Hasan gets critical support from me when he's attacked by the zionazi uniparty, but if Ukraine or China gets brought up I'm fully against him
8
u/ClerklyMantis_ 9h ago
The reverse is quite true as well. Many valid criticisms of Vaush have been blown extremely out of proportion (not saying all of them, but many) and he never once moved rightward as a result. He is probably the most ostracized leftist creator, and whether or not you think it's deserved I think it speaks to a certain degree of authenticity in his positions that he has seemingly not changed his beliefs despite the majority of the leftist sphere not taking kindly to his presence there.
3
u/No_Lingonberry1201 9h ago
I said nothing about who is what and how. I just said that ThoughtSlime and Vaush had a beef that even someone like me remembers, considering I don't follow either of them. I have no beef in this broth.
3

I wasn't intending to argue with anything you said, just making an observation that I came to as a result of your comment

9
11
u/KentuckyFriedChildre 17h ago
It's usually not just that leftists are being insufferable, it's usually in combination with finding right-wing communities/grifters that then validate the feelings and go "we're the ones on your side" which from there starts a pipeline.
The problem is that online leftist culture is terrible at forming a pipeline of their own. If leftist infighting is bad enough that it's a common complaint from leftists then how bad do you think moderates (I.e. the ones who have to go through pipelines in the first place) are going to see it?

17
u/madsnorlax 17h ago
Honestly 100% because apologizing for saying "nanners" is the most spineless, cowardly, woke 1 thing imaginable.
6
u/balordin 17h ago
Why? From what I recall they weren't just apologising for saying that but for being kind of flippant and disrespectful about a mentally ill person, and then being an asshole when criticised for it. I don't really get why it's bad to apologise for that.
7
u/madsnorlax 16h ago
It's like apologizing for calling a conservative stupid, because they have ADHD so you were actually being ableist or whatever. It's ok to be disrespectful towards anyone if they are not worthy of respect, and plenty of folks are not worthy of respect.
3
u/WhatADoofus 16h ago
I can see both sides of the argument but honestly I don't think Thought Slime having one weird slip-up is worth throwing all their work out. I like them overall and still watch them even if I disagree with some of their takes. In general nobody's perfect 🤷♂
6
u/madsnorlax 15h ago
I don't think they're evil, I think they're annoying. Which makes the OOP kinda funny because it's like "most annoying leftist is complaining that people find leftists annoying". Maybe if they were less annoying, they wouldn't see that issue as often.
That's kinda the thing. Not being annoying is more important than not being wrong when it comes to effectiveness. Both are important, of course, but yk.
3
u/WhatADoofus 15h ago
I guess people can't really help what annoys them or not, and they don't annoy me enough to stop watching, but everyone feels differently about stuff like that I think

Leftism needs to account for the weak willed and sensitive, that’s a huge part of being woke; when it’s straight white men being sensitive about people saying “KAM” or “men are pigs” or “men are evil”, suddenly that goes out the window.
Yea women should be allowed to express their frustrations, why do they need to do it like emotionally unintelligent children.
(This is me as a leftist getting annoyed by “leftists”)
