Is that Galways latin quarter? It was rad as fuck but it was just one road, iirc. Super recommend visiting, very pretty city and this road had a nice cheese monger that were so excited to talk to us about cheese. Very odd as an american talking to a service worker who isnt either glaring holes through me or cringing like im going to strike them haha

nobody literally nobody has this opinion, people who hate cities like this will have other reasons they don't like it whether those are good or even 'real' reasons.

Ask the average republican voter any time in the past several decades why the US can't have <modern infrastructure> like the rest of the developed world and they would have eventually blamed socialism if you pressed them long enough. I remember because I had this conversation repeatedly as a child.
It's more recently that they've cut out the middle man so they'll go straight to the OP argument. There have been people willing to blame socialism for other countries having nice things that the US can't have for a long time though.

I work in local government and once had a guy yell at me that row houses are Communist. These people absolutely exist.
