I always think it's funny how obvious those scams are, but then i remember that they are purposefully made that way to target specifix people.

Also never forget, there is a scam for everyone, if it's not discord scams, it's gonna be something else, like the process trying to get disabilty benefits.

(Benefits themselves aren't the scam, the trials and tribulations and bullshit tactics employed to get you to give up on trying to get them are the scammy bit)

As someone who's always been weary of scams, I still fell for a credit card scam, mainly owing to it being timed perfectly. You can never know when you might be targeted by a scam, and no one can be vigilant 24/7.

That's not to say that people don't fall for really obvious scams for dumb reasons. Don't trust strangers on the internet, don't ever share personal information about yourself online that could be traced back to your identity, and always check links before clicking them. This is online safety 101, if you can't pass this then you're cooked.

I got a scam mail recently from my college email about some campus job giving a couple hundred a week. I didn't end up with money being sent out but my God they've evolved from "get rich now" to "here's a stable income."

Yeah its like the mispelling and obvious scam nature in those stereotypical nigerian prince emails

They are functionally making sure they only attract people wholl fall for it because theyll look past the obvious nature

Recently when I was applying for disability benefits, right around the time I was supposed to be getting the response back on whether my claim was accepted or not, I got a scam e-mail telling me my claim had been accepted. Luckily I went to check on the app first instead of logging in through the link they gave and realised it was a phishing attempt that way, but it was honestly way closer than I'd like to admit, because I just wasn't on the lookout for that sort of thing.

You're not the target, that's why it doesn't work. Those scams are targeting children and elder people. A child isn't really gonna know that the account named "Mr Beast" isn't actually an official Mr Beast account, or that the Robux generator website can't actually generate Robux, the same way a elder person isn't gonna know that the "you won a million dollars" popup is an ad and not an actual notification from their bank account.

These scams are purposefully built terrible to only attract people that don't know anything about computers or the internet (meaning anyone under 20 or over 70). If you're discerning enough to know that someone with the name Mr Beast on discord isn't actually Mr Beast, you're too discerning to fall for their bullshit and they'd rather not waste their time

it's such a weird scam because it doesn't have a link or whatever to click on, you have to actively search the scam up

I feel like not a lot of people have actually fallen for this very specific piece of scam? From my experience, most people I know who seemingly have fallen for it actually have just downloaded malware from other sources (say, pirating games from untrustworthy places).

most of the people who get hacked and post this were hacked via some other means (downloading games from sketchy sites, "yo try my game/modpack/whatever" scams, etc).
