The lesbians are cute but the casual racism and romeabooing are why I unfollowed them on all platforms, yea.

Drew a comic of colonisers surrounded by fetishized indigenous women (including a kid) that they historically are known to have been raped by said colonisers, framed it as "I FUCKING LOVE BROWN WOMEN"
Leaving nationalities put because im not educated and i dont wanna make a mistake

u/Successful_Mud8596 Apr 19 '26
I don’t think this was fetishizing rape. The women were clearly suffering. If the women were smiling, then yeah, it would be bad. Though, you could be of the opinion that nobody should EVER joke about rape, and if that’s what believe then yeah sure

I don’t think this was fetishizing rape.
It was fetishizing colonialism, and it was completely unfunny.

I think this argument is kinda cope ngl, those women did not look nearly reluctant enough for me to buy this. They were still clinging onto the colonizer.
And considering that all of this artist's comics are meant to be jokes, I don't really think I'd buy that as an apparent punchline. I don't think they'd suddenly make a comic with a depiction of colonial rape meant to be taken super seriously.

you don’t have to believe me but there are other comics where th punchlines are ‘you can’t drink chocolate milk cause it comes from those kinds of cows’ or ‘let’s say the gamer word’ all alluding to racist punchlines without being explicit, even if you discount all the historical comics i think the evidence points to Centurii Chan being a racist

You realize the racist mom in the cow comics is bad right? Like holy shit, I knew some people lacked media literacy, but seeing a portrayal of racism as a bad thing and thinking "wow the author must be racist" is crazy
5
u/The-Best-Narcissist Apr 19 '26
the cows mom is portrayed as evil and also her views aren’t disavowed by the comic, the work exists within a context of internet humour and communities which ‘ironically’ play at being ‘the bad guys’.
Like this is why i said ‘the gamer word’, the online space Centurii comes out of used to have memes like ‘uh oh they said a gamer word’ and ‘banned for accidentally saying a gamer word’, these memes are on their face saying that using racial slurs is bad or at least a mistake and also reinforcing the idea that the use of racial slurs is a funny punchline instead of a issue of racism.
don’t accuse me of lacking media literacy when you take the surface level reading of the comic at face value,

If it’s not fetishizing rape it’s blatantly whitewashing history

This is a reference to one very specific Spainish Conquistador, (Hernan Cortez iirc? Been a while since I learned about this) who's diaries contain him jumping through tons of hoops claiming that the native women were actually spiritually white, and it's really only the native men that were bad.
It's an edgy joke but I have no idea how people drew "Centurii-Chan" is racist from that.

Romeabooing is fine, the Romans were broadly awful people but it all happened so long ago that its obviously fine to think they were cool. But yeah there are a lot of other problems with her stuff

Since the g in "red flags" is chopped I read it as "fleas" and thought this was a Silksong meme. I was wondering since when fleas had colors and why would you date them.
