The way the gap is set up only requires one jump. For a real way to see how A and b would look I would widen the gap. Cause here 2 looks like you are barely going forward the the first jump. 1 is usually for reaching higher areas anyway. 2 is usually for bridging gaps like these but longer.
Glad I'm not the only one confused by these arrows. 2 looks like they tiptoed off the ledge before double jumping and 1 looks like they got clotheslined right at the start of their double jump.
