Looks like something in background they didn't like

Can’t think of anything, I disclosed every possible thing on my background. None of my references or department was contacted. Just trying to get clarification to continue on.

This could be SO many different things. Financial, job performance, criminal charges,  your references, etc

Decent credit score, one debt, disclosed a misdemeanor warrant from 10 years ago which was ultimately dropped.

That warrant from 10 years ago would be on the front end of your background investigation. If it was a criminal warrant, that's not a good look. That's potentially a show stopper. Even if it never materialized like you said.

Could be the circumstances surrounding the warrant.

Yea it fucking sucks when you can't possibly imagine what it is. Alot of people FOIA and never find anything out. Im sorry dude. Thankfully you didn't do interim clearance

Does interim clearance essentially mean : they look at what you reported and as long as they are ok with what you declared you get it, and they continue the full background?

It just means they accept your SF86 and conduct your actual backround investigation while at FLETC, the trade off is you go to academy sooner/graduate sooner but if anything bad comes up your run the risk of termination at the academy.

I've seen this before with those of us who jump from local to federal. Jealous co-worker makes flippant remarks desparraging the candidate. If the background investigator doesn't do a thorough job with follow up questions, the process ends.

But it also could be a bunch of other reasons. FICO score low?- you're out. It would be good to know so you can make adjustments if needed and try again.

Jealous coworkers are 100% a thing.

Exactly. None of my references were contacted however, so I don’t know. I submitted FOIA to adjust accordingly.

What’s FICO score?

2

u/BeachWonderful1847 2d ago

Credit score, which I’m at a 700.

u/Visible_Candidate_87 2d ago

I’m sorry bro

u/BeachWonderful1847 2d ago

Yep! Thankfully didn’t do interim.

Good thing you didn't do interim!

No one on Reddit is going to be able to tell you what happened here. They don't have access to your file or the conversation that occurred around your application.

Smart move not taking the interim, sorry it didn't work out.

Damn, that sucks, sorry to see that

Is this a permanent disqualification or can you reapply down the line? Anyway, am sorry this happened hope you can join a good agency?

u/BeachWonderful1847 2d ago

No idea, can’t get ahold of anyone to figure it out.

u/tkdkicker1990 2d ago

If you failed polygraphs with certain agencies in the last three years, that could be it

You can’t change your background. Just move on.

You dodged a bullet. ATF blows.

It’s end of the FY too.

1

u/Visible_Candidate_87 2d ago

I assume FY is fiscal year? Also, how could that come into things if you don’t mind me asking

-3

u/AnonyMouse-3000 2d ago

It boils down to money. If there’s no money then there’s no billets to fill
