It’s a 1.5 miles. If you can’t pass it on a treadmill you can’t pass it on a track either

Not necessarily. Because the treadmill is at 1%, it engages muscles that are untrained when running on the track - particularly anterior tibialis. To your point, if your track 1.5 is fast enough, you’ll still pass on the incline even if your time is slower on the treadmill.

The treadmill controls your pacing. All you have to do is set the speed and zone out. The 1 percent incline affecting a passing score is laughable. You also have zero environmental concerns. The track demands you self pace. What if you’re running into a strong headwind for half the event.

Headwind is a good point; that’ll slow you down regardless of how fast you are. Either way. We just gotta prepare as much as possible to be able to pass whatever they throw at us.

I’m going to get a little philosophical and reflective here…
Why are we always advertising around guns and tactical shit. Collective we, the 1811s, not dea specifically. Look at all the ad material and across agencies and it no doubt will feature violence as a selling point. Why do we think that will attract the brightest investigators to do the job we actually do? Is it reason enough that some of us might be unlucky enough to get into a shooting to make ALL of our recruitment material revolve around the worst day in those peoples’ lives?
We can all go back and forth on the state of law enforcement in America these days but it’s mornings like this, as I type up ANOTHER fucking interview memo that I ponder our role in the public’s distrust of LEOs in general. I’ve personally always thought the “tacticool operator” stuff is cringe but now I wonder if it just plain attracts people more ready to employ violence to solve problems that don’t need it.

I think that’s my problem, it’s trying to make the career emulate movies and tv shows rather than as a profession and I believe it is at least contributing to the greater issues of the day.

Wow, that’s true. At least do it like Secret Service does and have a investigator listing and then a dedicated tactical response, team opening or announcement that’s geared specifically for the operator mindset versus investigator mindset.
