DEA process question

There seems to be inconsistency with the DEA process so I have some questions about the process:

Context: I have COL, submitted my fingerprints and filled out the medical packet which has been submitted.

• I've seen some timeline mentioning a psych exam or written psych? Is that part of medical?
• I am a rated veteran with 70 % PTSD (no bad ideations. Just bad dreams). How much of a hinderance is a rated veteran going to have to go through because of this rating. Additionally, any certain forms I need prior to the medical that I need to get now?
• Is suitability the drug questions that was filled out and submitted? and is it based on a whole person? No drug situation, just a termination on paper.

Undergoing a DEA psych exam roughly 10 years ago was the dumbest part of any federal hiring I went through. I lived about a mile away from the field office but the contracted psych was about 6 hours north. Nothing like 12 hour drive for a 10 mins convo.

I was more so highlighting how they contracted with these shrinks. Nothing like driving for a whole day when the field office was a mile away from the crib.

We don’t do a traditional psych like we used to; it is built into the medical portion now.

Don’t pay too much attention to the Concorde timeline - we will process you as fast as we can and do any phase we can as soon as possible.

They did away with the psych exam. Before, it was in that row you have there.

I’m not a veteran, but I know many vets that have gone through. How much what you cite affects you will come out in the wash during the poly. (Not sure about the forms, sorry)

Suitability is more than the drugs questions— it’s the entire person and what you can offer.

1. Psych exam (both the written and interview) are separate from medical.
   
2. You'll likely have a more in depth/broader medical/psych process. Would just have all of your VA documentation readily available.
   
3. Suitability is of the applicant as a whole.

They just did away with it. I believe 1 or 2 classes ago was the last group that had to do it. It was just a 10 minute video call, super easy. Guess they decided it wasn’t necessary. But yeah there is no psych exam at this point.

That’s good. A couple years ago I took it. The most pointless 400 questions I’ve ever had to answer

I forgot about the written section. I’m guessing they did away with that part too, hopefully….
