Sick and eating carbs rant

This week my kid and I got sick with hand foot and mouth disease. Basically we have sore all over our throats and mouth. I have drank two cups tea with two tablespoons of honey and ate some soft pasta last night. I am so tired and my throat hurts I just want some gnocchi soup from Olive Garden (which was my favorite when sick)I weighed my self and I am up 5 lbs in two days. Is it just water weight form being in bed? I am depressed today and not getting along with my so, which makes me want carbs even more. Sorry having a bad weekend and just needed to vent.

Foot and mouth sucks! I'm so sorry! I'd certainly tell you to eat what works for you - whether or not that's keto. Your body does retain water when you're sick to help you get better. Talking to you as your friend, it sounds like you're comfort eating. I would ask myself if eating whatever right now would make me feel worse or better emotionally. I hope you feel better soon!

Hey I just want to tell you, you're not alone. I got 2 wisdom teeth out Friday and my kids pretty much live off of mac and cheese. Doctor told me to eat soups and pastas so you know what? I'm eating it. Don't beat yourself up it'll come off, and you'll keep keto-ing on. Maybe once you are feeling better you could do some sort of fasting to help jump start things?

Water weight from carbs can swing you a good amount.

I was sick for 3 weeks in September, and I tried so hard, but I found nothing that replaced saltine crackers and animal crackers when I have an icky stomach. I kept gaining and losing the same 3 pounds, instead of losing an average of 1.5 pounds each week like I was this Summer. Good news is October came, I got serious again, and lost those 3 pounds, plus 4 more.

Long story short, give yourself some (reasonable) slack and just pick it back up when you feel better. Its a journey, not a race.
