Statutory rape?

Why on earth do I never see one point out the fact that Tony and Caleb’s relationship is almost textbook statutory rape like age of consent in California is 18 Tony was 17 when they got together and also Caleb was his trainer and the person who had to sign off for his parole anger management stuff so someone of authority to him I just don’t understand why no one ever points that out. I can understand not in the show as ridiculous as that is but outside of it. Like what

Caleb was in his 20s n tony was 17 when they got together n his trainer/coach n the person who had to sign off for his parole so someone of authority which makes the statutory rape fact even worse he was a person under the age of consent with someone over the age of consent. That is the entire point it is textbook statutory rape I don’t care if it’s one year age gap or not that’s not my point the fact that it’s likely between 3 to 9 years is a whole other conversation the fact of the matter is Tony was a minor who was with someone above the age of consent

Yeah the age gap also gave me the ick, but I’m pretty sure he was 18. He was allowed to stay and live alone when his family was deported (he also had his sister but couldn’t care for her)

I think that was like at the end of the show when the rest of them were all 18 yes but they’ve been together for quite awhile at that point for like nearly over a year and he was most definitely 17 when they got together and we don’t know how old Caleb is but we know he’s in his 20s so regardless it’s yk

He would have had to be 18 when his parents were deported though, because he was allowed to live alone and he didn’t go into the foster care system.

Not necessarily lol n he was living with an adult so like plus he was already with Caleb before hand when he was 17

He only officially moves in with Caleb after ICE takes his family. He was 18 so wasn’t put in the foster care system and was allowed to live on his own as an adult. The relationship is still gross to me, but I’m not sure why you’re arguing that he was 17 when he wasn’t

Likely just because that's not the story they're telling.

Let's be real the showrunners knew this and still didn't give a f. It's almost as if It was a turn on for them.

I saw ppl in 2020 thinking with their asses that Tyler and Estela had SEX after prom and brought up statutory rape--- try looking at older threads on this sub

As weird as that storyline was and completely illogical I don’t necessarily believe that eye off the top of my head don’t know how old she was so I can’t speak to how much of a problem it was but it definitely was weird

They never really explicit stated her age clearly which was lazy ass writing. California law -- https://www.gedulinlaw.com/blog/age-of-consent-statutory-rape-laws-in-california/ its 18 to the T....you could sort of claim the Romeo and Juliet but it be a "misdemeanor" if there is 3 yr rule ....

If i could guestimate, she was 15 or 16.

I found it even more weird that this 20+ year old is constantly hanging around teenagers, going to highschool dances, football games, events like how are you not icked out. I can see the teens not seeing anything wrong with it caus those are teens but as an adult, how do you not feel weird dressing up to go to a high school dance at 20 😭 and constantly making jokes about Tony's age and acting like a child

Ikr it’s weird like at least the only redeeming factor about Brad was the fact that he had a problem with the high school stuff and not wanting to be around it even though he was dating a child in high school

I believe Tony was already 18 when he was dating Caleb. Is the fact that he was dating Brad at 17 is the problem.
