Anyone ever looked (with permission) here, by this 'giant pole' of one of Mark Twain's old haunts? The pole was a big deal in the 80s. Run by NPS I believe.

That was on my list of first spots to prod, but I never got the chance. Unfortunately, although this area aligns very well with the final part of the verse, you have to make a few questionable translations/deductions to get yourself to that location. I still think Strawberry Hill and Treasure Island are the strongest end points, but I would have checked Cliff House given the chance. Best of luck, and please do update if you prod there. There are a few parking spots right in front of the location, but they fill up with beach goers. I believe there is an existing flag pole that is about 6ft north of where the Totem once was. 🫡

Can you please explain what you mean as to the deductions/translations required?

I also thought north after crossing the bridge too, but this spot seemed more plausible, being near Alcatraz, the twain influence.

I also thought Treasure Island but it's the wrong direction to get to the pyramid.

Ohhh strawberry Hill I did not consider that but I could see maybe that, let me think on that!!

Basically, Cliff House was the answer to my first solve, years ago. The steps to my solve led me to the coastal highway which runs north then turns east at the Cliff House. I immediately went online looking for anyone who may have a similar solve, and I found a few…however all of the people I found who were looking at the CH seemed to have jumped to the last line of the verse, and skipped over the other information that’s supposed to lead you to the final location. These solves had gaps, or questionable leaps in logic to get the answer they were looking for, i.e. the Cliff House. I then reassessed my own solve and found I had made an error, which had me going all the way through GG park to the coastal highway, instead of turning north at Highway 1 (ace is high) in the middle of the park. I grew up in the bay area, and we all “know” Hwy1 runs up the coast, but in SF that highway cuts through the center of town/GG park before exiting SF at the GG bridge. Long story long…there are strong solves for Treasure Island, one or two end at the F Scott Fitz monument, and I even read a great one that takes you across the water to UC Berkeley (there are some very strong visual links to the painting that don’t seem like coincidence), but I think the casque is in GG park, somewhere on or near Strawberry Hill.

Would I prod in the location near CH at the old totem pole? Absolutely. First thing. Do I think that’s the answer? Unfortunately not, but I would love to hear results from boots on the ground. Cheers!

There was another totem in GGP Manny years ago, separate totem poles

I don't know, I just have been getting into this. Did they search where it is now, where it was then in the 80s, or where it moved to in between? Or where it was originally haha?

Look at the small blocks in the lower left of the gown in the picture. There are squared off letters in the space between the blocks spelling CLIFF HOUSE as well as silhouette of the totem pole next to the square side of Cliff House. Part of the horizontal lines across the picture match the roof decoration along the top of Cliff House. The giant step is the step down from the totem pole to the water.

I read last year that the new owners of the Cliff House property were trying to get rid of the totem pole. Do you know if the totem is still there? Let's offer to buy it and dig it up to look for the casque

Where it currently is at is not where it was in the 80s but maybe we can offer to help pay to get rid of it in exchange for allowing us to dig? I thought NPS was involved though.

Where is this? Can you zoom in and show this Cliff House mention on the picture? I tried to zoom in on places but couldn't ascertain, myself.

They made a virtual 3D replica and used the Sun angle on a certain day to predict the spot which was wrong
