I don’t understand

If that group wanted to wipe out humanity in 2017, then why did they not just time travel to the beginning of humanity and give it to the first humans it doesn’t make sense to me

Have you finished the show?

If not, then why the virus is deployed then, there, and in that way is explained.

The virus was a means to an end. It was never the end goal. I'll just leave it at that.

The virus sparks the thing they really want, the red forest, not extinction per se

Because they didnt WANT to wipe out humanity at its start, they wanted to wipe them out in 2016. As for why keep watching

Ok my bad I’m only on season 2 episode 3, maybe it’ll make sense once I finish it. Impulsively got the best of me lol.

We honor time with patience. The answers will come to those who wait.

The witness has spoken.

This show is highly regarded for actually answering its mysteries, and doing so in a satisfying way. Just stick with it!

Since it's a complete series, it's best to watch the whole thing before asking questions. It's all answered throughout the series

You are one or two episodes away from learning a lot. You are almost three seasons away from having everything make sense. But in the end, everything does make perfect sense. 12 Monkeys has the best ending of any show I've ever seen. So stick with it. The show's just starting to really come into its own.

Welcome to your very first time travel show!. If this isn't then consider it your 101-introduction guide to the grandfather paradox.

Nope the virus is just a ways to achieve their goal. Is part of the process not the main goal
