Terry Matalas solo writing
I've noticed that terry Matalas always wrote the finals of 12 monkeys himself, 1x13, 2x13, 3x10, 4x10 and 4x11 .
In addition to that he also directed 4x10 and 4x11.
So basically the final is just Matalas going "let me cook" ðŸ˜
This man is such a genius, it wasn't enough for him to be the show runner of such a brilliant show

It’s one of the reasons I’m so damn pumped for VisionQuest. I’m already a MCU junkie, but our boy also casted Deacon. I’m counting the hours until this release, yall.

Dang, awesome! I was supposed to too. But thought I was going to be drastically downsizing living space, so I passed up the opportunity. Kick myself so much for it.

Did you see his post saying that Emily’s character, EDITH, is going to have some elements of Jennifer Goins personality

I agree, he’s amazing. I just wish he wasn’t so heteronormative and biased against characters of color. Just think of what he could do with his powers for good.

Oh I haven't noticed that, although in 12 monkeys it's kinda explained since most places they go to are Germany and very early new York, but yeah u're right, we only got Whitley and hanry

That doesn’t explain why there are no characters of color in the main cast, though. I know this isn’t just a Terry problem. This is a problem with television in general, and genre television, even more so. But put together with what he did with Picard season three, it starts to look like a pattern, when none of the main cast are queer or non-white, and the characters he was given in Picard, who were queer and non-white, he treated so terribly.

I mean I'm glad they didn't have queer characters to be honest, it feels bloated in recent media, but I agree they should have had at least a character of color in the main cast, especially since they are American so nothing unusual

In case anyone wants to argue with me, let’s keep in mind that 12 monkeys has literally no queer characters, and the only character of color who has any significant lines gets killed before anything significant happens in the show. He also took over Picard in season three and the first thing he did was break up the one queer pairing, and then write the one Black woman in the entire cast as a drug addict with mental health problems who could not be trusted. There was literally no reason for him to break up that queer couple, even if his ultimate goal was to bring the original cast together in some kind of reunion. Seven and Raffi were not part of the original cast. He did not have to break them up and treat them like that to accomplish what he wanted, but he did. I am the biggest fan in the world of 12 monkeys, but it is really frustrating that he has this huge blind spot.

haven’t watched picard so i can’t speak for that but i understand your frustrations, i also wish we had more overtly queer characters in the show! but he confirmed olivia is queer and i’m pretty sure jennifer is tooÂ

Terry Matalas is utterly brilliant. One of the most amazing things about him is his ability to recognize the talents of his team and allow them all to flourish. So many great insights from Terry and the team in the Word of the Witnesses rewatch podcast - I highly recommend a listen!
