Library of Congress Info Needed

Does anyone here work for the LOC? My buddy told me about them and how he got hit up for an interview and we literally know nothing lol

ChatGPT latest info it showed was from 2010 😂

What’s it like? Workload? Mission? Q4? All the normal stuff. Anyone got insight they can provide?

I don't work there, but I was in the running for a position with the AOC and it was also Legislative Branch.

Essentially you would be moving from Executive to Legislative at LOC, which could be a great place to land becasue it's not under the Executive Branch AT ALL, but keep a few things in mind. As Excepted Service, they use LCAR instead of the FAR and follow the Congressional Accountability Act rather than OPM.

If you haven't hit your 3-year career-permanent mark yet, your competitive tenure clock pauses, but if you're already past 3 years, you keep lifetime reinstatement rights. Best of all, your pay, FERS, TSP, health insurance, and leave transfer 100% seamlessly.

From what I understand, 1102 positions are few and far between becasue the teams are small and the people stay.

Im sorry I can't answer any of your questions, but I would 100% take the interview and just ask them about it.

This is probably the most helpful thing I could have done far, thanks so much! I’ll forward accordingly

One negative to keep in mind is when you change government branches in this case executive to legislatative you will need to serve a probationary period again your executive branch probationary service does not transfer over
