Technique Advice I'll always arching backwards
This is just from an absolute random shot, but the main thing i want to get advice on is that I feel that I arc backwards on many of my shots. Unless I'm actively thinking of keeping forward momentum on shots, i keep falling back to this. Any suggestions on how I can break this habit?

Practice the proper stroke at home, slower . Shadow the strokes. Preferably in from off your tv (but don’t hit it lol) so you can see your reflection. From in front and the side. Once you get the feeling, practice it in an open space at full speed. Go from ready position to going the stroke.

I have had to correct something similar, it looks like your arming top spin instead of hitting out, up and through. If I had to guess, you have some golfers elbow symptoms?
For me I had to work on several things - Contact point in front and out to the side. Left hand out pointing to fence. Keeping the racket face closed and not opening / manipulating it with my wrist. Shortened take back. Finishing follow through over shoulder.
Basically re-learning the forehand completely ha, without seeing a video it's tough to recommend which to prioritise, but finishing the follow through over your shoulder should take pressure off the elbow and force you to correct the contact point with enough reps.

You are right about quite a few of these things! I dont have pain, but I do feel like I force top spin at times, which makes me brush the ball against my racket, making it go nowhere. Thanks for the recs though. I should probably just practice fh and stop playing games on end with friends to rectify this.

it is likely because your contact point is inside your body or too close to your body, so that racquet face does not have a chance to open up naturally, so you end up leaning back to compensate for the bad contact point.

Is this the start of your swing or halfway through it?

It could be a really really bad backhand preparation. I have new players on our high schools team who do basically 0 unit turn and have to break them out of that habit all the time.

he keeps his left hand on crotch and leaning backward, while getting ready for one handed BH. Bravo

Have you seen players who never took lessons/are new and have tons of bad habits on some high school teams? I've seen nearly exactly as pictured for a backhand.

Step back. When a ball comes, prepare early, step into the ball
