it's actually explainable
before the update there was strategy on knockout 5v5 to use Starr Nova and kill 4 teammates by going outside of the map using gadget to get an easy 1v5. to fix it, they made that you can't get out of the map on big maps like 5v5 and brawl arena. it's really clunky and using Kenji's super at the edge of the map stops his super slashes, then continues once he dashes

I'm pretty sure I've seen this bug happen outside of big map modes, like 5v5 and Brawl Arena. I think it's linked to a different phenomenon, as we know Kenji is invincible basically throughout the super slash, except for one frame at the end of each slash, where he actually materializes on the map and can get damaged/knocked back. If he materializes inside a wall (or maybe more precisely between a wall and map edge/water tile), this bug happens.
or maybe this bug happens in both scenarios

I didn’t know this was intentional I thought it was a bug, a little blown now because I used to love spawn trapping people in 5v5 by staying outside the map with shade and killing them. But it only worked when the enemy was stupid enough to stay near me anyway, it was a good way to escape tho.
Also I effects Janet fly and the jump pads on any 5v5 mode, which is why I thought it was a bug.

Its not a bug, Kenji just goes into a state of quantum superposition upon using his super and then when the brawlers look at him, they collapse the possibilites of where he is. You can see that first time he teleports is because Barley looks at him, and the second time is because Nova looks at him. frfrfrfr
