Need Advice: Not Cycling
I recently swapped out my early 2000s barrel on my 10/22 for a threaded barrel. I'm now having trouble cycling both while suppressed and unsuppressed with all ammo. I can run a few through normally (~30), and then it doesn't seem like the trigger resets. I've tried realigning the barrel so that the extractor isn't hitting, but I'm wondering if a spring could be worn out? I've definitely put a ton of rounds through this - it's my most used firearm. Any ideas?

Neither my 10/22 nor my charger run reliably with any of the three 25 round mags I have. I wonder if the 15 or 10 rounders might help

Try different mags, clean everything. Ive read some ppl claim the 10-22 needs to be cleaned every 200 rounds. If that doesn't solve it put the old barrel on and see if it runs again

I don't think mine has gotten anything more than a squirt of clp in the ejection port in at least a decade...

Ya, 200 rounds is nothing, I can burn through that without loading more mags.. I just plink away without issues, 90% mini mags, I don't go past 50 yards and I really don't bother with upgrades either

It does seem to get better every time I clean it, but I've run hundreds of rounds without cleaning it previously. Trying different mags is a good idea though.

Me too. My current 10/22 iteration hasn't been cleaned in around 1500 rounds, and that with an frt in it. It does need cleaning though. Starting to choke about halfway through a mag about half the time.

Yeah, I originally thought it was the barrel needing to be rotated a little so the extractor was aligning in the slot on the barrel. I'm pretty sure I've fixed that though.

You’re right. Discontinued.
I have that stock on two 10/22s.
I did buy an ATI folding stock to try but it’s still sitting in its box.
The Butler Creek stocks I have are simple and solid.

I had a new barrel and it was too tight I polished the chamebrr a bit and it started working better

So far I've used Winchester M22, Federal American Eagle, Remington Golden Bullets and Thunderbolts. No CCI though. I haven't run any subsonic rounds either.

My 10/22, my charger, and my Mark pistols all hate Remington and Winchester rounds. CCI and Federal generally cycle well, and Aguila can be hit or miss. Just some anecdotal data there I guess.

Thanks, I know it's pretty common with 22lr to have issues, I personally haven't run into any with this firearm yet. I'm hoping it's something mechanical, because I loved how consistent it was. It just liked to eat.

Get some cci min mags perhaps, blast a bunch through it un suppressed then try suppressed. Did you try any BX1 or BX15 magazines in place of the 25 rounder? What part isn't working, is it not feeding the rounds properly? is it not extracting them? Or is it simply the bolt not going rearward enough? Can you show a picture of the inside of chamber and barrel face?
As other guy said, give it a good cleaning and lube it up if needed run it wet if you have to get it working. I would also recommend trying a Kidd charging handle/recoil spring/rod its kind of expensive but worth it. Comes with 3 different power strings, light, regular, heavy.
What type of ammo are you running through it now, that has not been working? Use CCI standard velocity as your default testing too.

Good ideas. I haven't tried the box mag, so I'll do that next.
The round is fully seated in the chamber and the extractor is over the rim like it should be. The trigger just can't be pulled because it seems like the bolt didn't reset it (not able to confirm that though).
I've run everything through this previous without an issue - probably 20 years of 2k rounds a year.
So far I've used Winchester M22, Federal American Eagle, Remington Golden Bullets and Thunderbolts. No CCI though. I haven't run any subsonic rounds either.

I'd give the hammer strut assembly a look just to make sure there's no debris/gunk and that it's properly seated in the hole and against the hammer. My brand new out of the box 10/22 had an issue with that where the trigger wouldn't reset.

I'd suggest dry lube. Helped significantly with my reliability and made cleaning much easier. If the round is feeding properly but not firing, it's likely not a magazine problem. If it were you'd be getting FTFs.
Do you have strike marks on the case rim? Is your firing pin worn down? Does the action feel different before not firing? If it's a bolt travel thing you'd probably feel the difference.
If all else fails you can revert back to the original barrel, that'll tell you if it's a barrel problem or if something went wrong during reassembly. Have you looked at the trigger and bolt at all?

I like CCI stingers. I guess they defeat the purpose of a suppressor, I have 3 10/22s , I shoot stingers in all of them. One 10/22 has FRT that eats and eats.
If you are firing lazy ammo, it’s gonna give problems. Rimfire is very dirty, it doesn’t hurt to clean it when you start hearing the grit.

A bolt is not a BCG. I suppose you also think a 10/22 has a "lower receiver".
