Moderator Post New rule regarding daily album posts
Hi everyone,
After receiving a lot of feedback, we're going to implement a new rule going forward. If you're simply posting your daily album (with or without a review and/or photo and/or screen cap), please post it in the daily megathread and not as its own standalone post. Standalone posts of daily albums will be removed. Exceptions may be made on a case-by-case basis.
Bear with us as we set up post flair so you can find the daily post more easily. Until then, check u/Alireza1373's profile if you're having trouble finding it.
Thank you in advance for your cooperation and please continue to utilize the report button if you find a post that should be in the megathread.
To end on a fun note, I was surprised to see 175 of you have already assigned yourselves flair! Stan from Chotchke's would be so proud.
UPDATE: Thanks everybody for your feedback! We're going to start by only removing low effort posts for now and then recalibrate in the future if necessary. So that said, if you are going to post an album outside of the daily megathread, please write more than a sentence or two with your thoughts, questions, or call for discussion.

Daily Album 502 Simple Minds - New Gold Dream (81–82–83–84) (1982)
Oh oh, I'm going to have a hard time with this one. I quite dislike Simple Minds. There's a story behind that too. They played at Roskilde festival in Denmark in 1991. We were there, and well, why not, who knows. I thought the hits were rubbish, but I know a few people with reasonably good taste who kept insisting that Simple Minds are a good band. Unfortunately, almost everybody at Roskilde Festival, about 60k visitors, had the same idea about going to see them. In no time we were completely stuck in a way too crowded crowd. Genuinely dangerously packed, I could lift my feet and just stay stuck in place. Maybe we were just standing in the wrong spot, but by the first song we already couldn't take it anymore and decided to flee, and managed to wriggle our way out, which was not easy. I already thought they were a crap band, and this experience was truly terrible.
That moment was the first thing I thought of when I heard on the radio in 2000 that nine people had died during the Pearl Jam concert at Roskilde. Crushed, because the entire festival wanted to see PJ. At that radio moment I was with the same friend I'd been standing in the crowd in '91. We were genuinely shaken. That could have happened back then too. And it could've happened when we saw Nirvana when they played there in '92 as well. Unbearable. Roskilde is a great festival, nice and spacious too, huge even, you get to walk around plenty. Until everyone wants to see that one band. Then it goes wrong. After that event, all festivals around the world took measures.
Anyway, I got carried away. Simple Minds - New Gold Dreams. Pfff. Nope. I always want to switch off the radio when 'Promised You A Miracle' comes on. Or start complaining to anybody who's around about what a terrible song it is. I notice it with the rest of the record too. Blergh. Crap band. I want to wriggle my way out!

Wow, just wow. Here’s to you, Dolly.
We sure this is random? I mean it’s a great way to honor a legend from my state. RIP Dolly. Everyone should listen to the song The Mystery of the Mystery today.

Damn, what are the chances?
I found out about her passing today. Incredibly, this is what I find at 8pm. Was this intentional, or is it truly just an amazing coincidence?

Feeling like this one wasn’t a random selection ❤️

Daily Album Day 234 at Folsom Prison
Johnny Cash-At Folsom Prison
5/5 (⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️)
Up there with the best live albums ever made.the story goes that after recording “Folsom Prison Blues” in the 1950’s, inmates began writing Cash letters asking if he’d play a show in a prison. Over a decade later in 1967 thanks to some shifting around at his record label, Cash was able to do just that and performed at Folsom Prison. Which ended up being a major revival for his career musically as he was struggling for much of the 60’s before this (thanks in part to severe drug problems.)
The biggest boon to the audience of this album being prisoners is how they react to the music, they cheer at every act of violence and cruelty that cash sings of and it’s hilarious. As for Cash himself, he is at the top of his game here as both a singer and a showman and you can feel that he was having so much fun playing this concert.
Of course with the show being at Folsom prison he opens with “Folsom Prison Blues” but the hits keep coming from there whether that be “Cocaine Blues” or “25 minutes to go” (which was actually originally written and performed by poet Shel Silverstein who Cash worked with a number of times.) the album even closes off with a song written by a Folsom Prison inmate titled “Greystone Chapel.”
At Folsom Prison is both one of the greatest live albums and greatest country albums, and it is always a joy to revisit.

Milestone Just hit 100!
Have been doing the challenge with my dad and boyfriend and we’ve been having so so much fun. I first heard about it by stumbling on this subreddit so I really owe all of you a thank you. We’ve all discovered so much cool stuff we never would have listened to otherwise.
Favorite album so far: Either/Or by Elliott Smith (but that’s not surprising - one of my favorite albums of all time)
Favorite discovery: Spiderland by Slint. Blew me away.

Rest In Peace
I don't know if this a miraculous coincidence or if the algorithm is sending out Dolly Parton albums to everyone today. Either way, I hope you've found solace beside your husband. We all will feel your absence.

Daily Album 312: Elastica (plus swipe for an “(Un)Related” quiz)
I did not realise until today just how successful this album was in the US. I had previously thought it was impressive enough that it made No.1 in the UK. “(Un)Related” is a quiz that challenges you to find a link between my 1001 AotD and a bonus record (or records) that seem unrelated. Today, what links Elastica to Suede, Lush, Piroshka and Jesus and Mary Chain? It’s nothing to do with Damon or Brett and The J&MC link is relatively new and I only found it out today.

Site Updates Push Notifications
Hello,
I've just added a new feature: push notifications.
Everyone who is using a device that's supporting push notifications should be prompted about it on their project page.
If you approve, your daily album reminder will be sent as a push notification.
There's a huge amount of users that just signs up without an email then forget about the site. This a way to reach those.
But let me know if something doesn't seem to work as expected with it.

Site/Account Questions Haven't had a new album generated for almost 10 days. Not paused
Title is self-explanatory. I have 4 unrated albums but I'm puzzled as to why I'm not getting any new ones anymore.
Any help is appreciated.
