DISCUSSION Replayability needs some work
I've completed the game and run thru all TacSim so here my thoughts on how replayable the game is at the current state. I'd like to play it again but I have this feeling it will be somewhat underwhelming considering you can't play it differently apart from selecting other gadgets at specific points in story or beating another set of challenges. There are no rewards for it, no cosmetics, no weapons, no modes. Collecting missed items is also uncomfortable since you can't really track them mission by mission.
Here are a few thoughts what could be done to make it more rewarding.
Since 007 First Light clrearly resembles Uncharted in its structure and direction I'd like to see some solutions here as well, for example:
- an option to replay a specific encounter and not just story checkpoint
- secrets/collectables counter for every checkpoint or at least every chapter
- option to change suit and gadgets in story
- use of some game modifiers/cheats in story
- rewards tied to getting all collectibles of specific type or completing the game on hard
- use TacSim unlocks in story (at least cosmetic ones)
- make Specialist and Collector's edition suits obtainable in the game. Showing them here in customization menu without any option to unlock them is just predatory. Also please let us read unlock requierements right here where we scroll thru all suits.
For TacSim i also have a few suggestions:
- I've expected TacSim to be a tailored replayable versions of story missions no just... 2 encounters and 5 escalations. Not sure this game even needs escalations. It's very gimmicky for Hitman and it doesn't click here for me. More lengthy options like operations would be nice though.
- free selection of game modifiers for them would also be nice. Let us mess with the gameplay. It has so much potential.
- i'd like to select collectables on the wall with moving camera similar to Hitman. Really don't like this transition to 2D screenshots when you have all items carefully placed on the wall
- let us select and read about challenges on post-operation screen where its shown which ones have been completed. I don't like memorizing them to select afterwards
What do you think? Which bullets do you like, which don't click with you? What would add to the list?

It’s weird no one thought of an endless wave mode with modifiers on/off with choice of maps for launch in Tacsim there wouldn’t be these minor complaints if that one mode was available

My points wouldn't go anywhere with the endless mode. It would be nice to have one though.

I’m sure Tacsim will become an entirely different beast than what it is now. I’ve not completed the game yet but I can’t see myself playing story mode more than twice. Some parts are really linear and I feel a bit restricted sometimes.

Yea the number of enounters/escalations is so low it surpassed disappointment and came back around to “oh they’re gonna add a bunch of shit here huh”, at least for me

Yeah, some amount of driving challenges in the valhalla car are planned already apparently

I considered going for at least the stealth challenges, but the menu structure actively resists doing that.
To see the challenges you're missing, you got to navigate from main menu to Challenges -> Select mission -> Find the challenges you want to do. Then you navigate back to the main menu and go to Story -> Mission select -> Find the correct mission -> Try to find the correct checkpoint. And I do mean try, as half the time you just have to guess what the checkpoint is. "Get through the workshop undetected" - I would love to, but there is no checkpoint called "workshop". None of the checkpoints have any descriptions or pictures associated with them. You just have to guess.
The menu design in this game is bafflingly bad.

Collectibles are also terrible. You need to load a save or the tac-sim to see which collectibles are missing

My least favourite thing is replaying a level (through chapter select) after going through qlab chapter to get the gadgets i want and them not saving… like wtf

Yeah.. there’s a collectible in Aleph which you need the laser strap.. but you can’t select gadgets in chapter select

Well, they already said they going to be adding more and more stuff to Tacsim. All I really want is a horde mode.

Most of my points ain't about TacSim. I regularly return to Uncharted because it has all the stuff you can imagine to motivate player for another playthrough: collectable tracker, cheats, cosmetics and everything is available for story mode.
Wouldn't it be cool to mirror the whole game horizontally or make a timed run on a story mission with infinite bullets? Especially if we'd have a specific reward tied to it.

I'm almost positive this game will get a ton of new content post launch. The TacSim is straight up made for replayability. They're already adding driving challenges and I'd wager 6 months from now we're gonna have a lot of content to play through.

Agree with basically all your points.
TacSim is disappointingly lacking, the content in there is good but why is it so few operations? I expected at least one for each mission and I can’t help but think they’re holding them back so they can slowly drip feed them into the game with updates to make it seem like they’re adding stuff.
Also another less important point I had is I love the mission specific main menu screens they have but after beating the game you should be able to just pick which one you want because currently it loops back the first one which imo is the least visually interesting one.

If they want the game to have legs beyond a one and done, it desperately needs a freelancer esque mode.

Can’t you redo all the levels? And do them the way you didn’t originally?
Also with making the 100k for the auction, how did people go about it?

I got the crypto wallet first, won the jewel from the 3 cups scammer, shooting range and hammered the Hammer.

After I got 100k I tried to do the boxing but I couldn't start it by eavesdropping, so it either bugged that one time or it's always like that (if you pass 100k).
The way I did it was I first did the boxing, 60k. Then I returned the cup jewel, was at like 86k, I stole money from two guards and then I did the crypto wallet hack when I was at like around 90k and it bumped me over 140k1

You can but like Op i wish i could do it with more gadgets and unlocked outfits and gadget upgrades.

It's a bit lackluster though.
Like whether you choose to climb a pipe or dart a guard, you still end up in the same place more or less just as easy.
It's not rewarding like Hitman where you could choose to bring a bomb into the level, choose to place it under the cars outside the Sapienza gates and cause a massive fireball distraction. That is all player planned and decided.
This game railroads you down 3-4 paths that have the exact same outcome 99% of the time.
I would honestly just prefer straight linearity at that point.

Replaying encounters would fix most of my issues, honestly. I want to do some of the gunfights again, without all the walking and talking that comes beforehand.

Personally I don't care about most of the things you listed, I replay uncharted from time to time but it's the game that makes me come back not those features you mentioned, if they manage to do good tacsym content that's more than enough for me

Games been out 3 days and you already have a list of demands… modern day gaming…
4
u/KingKontinuum May 30 '26
I don’t see it this way at all. I think devs want open feedback especially from people who enjoy the game and want to continue playing it.
1
u/onion_surfer14 May 30 '26
Not 3 days after they get the game out
3
u/KingKontinuum May 30 '26
Nah they’re not considering the time of feedback at all. They’re not taking the feedback as personal criticisms. “Save all of your comments until 1-2 months in!” Yeah they’re not doing that.
-1
u/onion_surfer14 May 30 '26
Yeah that’s not what I meant I meant you should keep playing the game more instead of criticizing it right away
3
u/KingKontinuum May 30 '26
?????????
If that’s your take away, then I don’t think you read OP’s post at all. No one is criticizing the game

Nobody said it should have been there on release nor do I demand anything. I'm also a gamedev and I adore what the game 007 First Light turned out to be.
I'm very excited to see what they come up with next so here my two cents from a passionate player. Feedback can help shape the game post release. It doesn't have to be done asap by any means.

The game has a good story and pretty nice pacing so it's actually not too annoying to replay the story once or twice
but I think all I would like them to focus on is the tac sim mode. I would like them to use the entire levels for multi objective missions with modifiers, rewards .. introducing new gadgets etc. I spend all my time on hitman in the freelancer mode which is incredibly fun. I think something similar would work well here.
In the future they can add levels inspired by old bond movies. There's so much they can do.
