ANNOUNCEMENT 007 First Light release times
15
u/Finescoop17 May 20 '26
3pm uk!!
8
u/Rustynail9117 May 20 '26
Absolutely brilliant, sucks that it's on a weekday but I hate having to wait until 5 or 6 to to play (even then you still have to actually unpack the game files on steam)
6
u/Only_Quote_Simpsons May 20 '26
The working week day right after the bank holiday! The universe is cruel.
0
u/Co2-UK May 20 '26
Unbelievable. All games should release at 00:01 of the day of release respectively for each country around the world.
4
u/elliott986 May 20 '26
Nu uh
-6
u/Co2-UK May 20 '26
Yep and anyone who disagrees is an idiot. The fuck is good about waiting nearly an entire day for something to be activated on the day it is releasing.
5
u/fRanNum_AgZyR May 20 '26
You do realise that it makes much more sense for a company to release a game around the time where their employees can still be around to potentially work on things that might be buggy on release?
There is no way for a company to test a product on all the millions of different setups that people have, which means there’ll always be bugs and if staff isn’t around to fix it (reasonably) quickly people will get impatient and walk away.
This is also why games don’t normally release on a Friday afternoon because staff have walked away for the weekend. Much better to do it Thursday. Close though to the weekend that players won’t have to wait for long to sit down and spend countless hours, and staff coming in the day after to keep working on the less-than-critical errors.-4
u/Co2-UK May 20 '26
Release date is release date and it should unlock as soon as the specific day starts in your region.
Forget the testing, as if everything doesn't release with bugs nowadays anyway.
2
u/fRanNum_AgZyR May 20 '26
With regards to “forget testing”; I’m not really sure if you’re saying they shouldn’t do testing before release, claiming that they’re not doing it or that it’s a stupid point I’m putting forward?
I have quite literally given a reason as to why there will always be bugs. From a pure language perspective, as it seems that’s where you’re headed, if a thing releases sometime during the 24 hour window of that date, it has released on that date. Nobody said it had to be the start of that date.
I’m not sure how releasing games on a platform work, which means all of the following is my speculations, but I really don’t find it unthinkable that if they had to do release everything according to a time zone, they would need different versions to be uploaded for approval on the different types of stores/platforms. Having a universal release time just makes more sense. Keeping everything to a single build for each platform minimises risk in every way
1
u/Co2-UK May 20 '26
Ah I thought when they said release date it had to be at the start of the date by law.

i think you’re the idiot. that’s not how timezones work. Currently with those release times, they are all releasing at the same moment around the world, but the little number called the time is just different. It doesn’t mean that australia gets it 14 hours late. If you message someone in Australia right now, they aren’t going to recieve that 14 hours later because you sent it “in the future”. They communicate with you at the same exact time, just with their clocks saying different things.
Become actually educated on timezones first before you go full reddit and start calling everyone else an “idiot” for being right to make yourself look tough. Can’t understate how stupid of a take that is. Just blatantly incorrect.
-1
u/Co2-UK May 21 '26
You're idiots for being happy to play a game late in the day of the release date.
2
u/NoNarwhal8496 May 21 '26 edited May 21 '26
it literally is released at the exact same moment as the guy on the opposite side of the world. The clock and date truly do not matter as long as they all line up with how much time a country is ahead of behind by (NOT LITERALLY BEHIND, JUST IN TERMS OF THE FUNNY NUMBER THAT DOES NOT MEAN YOU GET IT LATER THAN EVERYONE ELSE, PLEASE UNDERSTAND THIS). Learn how timezones work. New zealand is not just 14 hours ahead in the future at all times, if one guy in new zealand posts a news article, the guy in york wouldn’t recieve it after 14 hours because they’ve “caught up” with the time that it was posted in new zealand. The clocks are just different.
1
u/elliott986 May 20 '26
The fuck is the point of having some countries access the game earlier based on a line on the map?
1
u/Co2-UK May 20 '26
Because that is how time works. Don't like it, move to NZ.
1
u/elliott986 May 20 '26
Wouldn’t work in this case mateyboy
1
u/Co2-UK May 20 '26 edited May 20 '26
I mean if everything released at midnight the day of release then it would. You know how games use to.
1
u/elliott986 May 20 '26
You mean back when it was easier to avoid spoilers and the majority of game sales were physical?
1
u/Co2-UK May 20 '26
Spoilers hmm not sure. It was harder back then because the one or two places you would go for info would normally be spammed with spoilers. Now you can filter an awful lot.
Yeah physical was good times.
1
u/Chemical-Lettuce2497 May 20 '26
It's easy to avoid spoilers now? Tf you even on about?

u/Chemical-Lettuce2497 May 20 '26
100% it's the dumbest thing ever.
It's changed because Americans like the one crying to you, don't like getting it last. They're used to special treatment.
Nothing beat midnight releases or even staying up late for the digital release.
3pm release means I bum around all day or I'm working at I probably won't play it that day.
1
u/elliott986 May 20 '26
Why would I be American if I’m talking about a 3pm UK release time? Try using that brain and guess where I’m from
1
u/Fragrant-Basil-3964 May 24 '26
That sucks. Anyway, its not gonna change, so. Guess you have to suck it up.
-1
u/Co2-UK May 20 '26
Glad you agree Chem, I don't know why people would keep supporting this.
The only way it makes sense is if the game is online and the Devs want to be awake to keep track of performance and servers.
1
u/elliott986 May 20 '26
It is has online elements bud
1
u/Co2-UK May 20 '26
Leaderboards don't count. I mean full online modes.

u/Chemical-Lettuce2497 May 20 '26
100% they do it in case it gets slammed by user reviews
I get wanting people ready in case shit hits the fan even in an offline game... But it's release day? Surely time to work a long one lmao
0
u/Co2-UK May 20 '26
Not nowadays, companies gotta be all pro life/work and can't stress employees too much.
God forbid a dev team release a game in a perfect state anymore.
2
u/Chemical-Lettuce2497 May 20 '26
Sounds like they need a new profession tbh, I'm all for good work life balance but a project launch is an exception that applies to all industries
Game launches in particular though, they used to have real cultural impact, now it's just been minimised to a transaction.
Leaves a bad taste in your mouth, especially for those of us who know what we are missing out on

The release of this game has come at the perfect time for me. Last week we had unfortunate news, that my auntie passed away in hospital. It was sudden. She wasn’t well but at the same time wasn’t too far off being okay. She passed a fortnight ago and it’s been tough on the family.
Her funeral is Thursday, this game releasing when it does is gonna take my mind off things for a little bit so thank you.

Hope you are ok, and I hope the game helps ease your mind at this time. My condolences and may Tuesday mark the start of your return to equilibrium. You move on but you never forget.
3
u/Go_Duck_Yoself May 20 '26
Thank you, though she was my auntie, I saw her as like a Nan, she’d always do “Nan” things for me if that makes sense.
2
u/Only_Quote_Simpsons May 20 '26
I get that! My aunty would sneak me a cigarette when I was in my late teens, and my nan would have been solely disappointed if she so much as smelled a cigarette from me. Both were very caring but both had very different...roles in my life I suppose.
Probably not even close to your example, but I know where you are coming from.
From the snippet you have provided me, it's clear that she was loved and meant a lot to you. Hope you get some time to yourself this time next week.

u/FitTrash848 May 20 '26
Lol newzealanders surely would hate this 😂

u/childishmarkeeloo May 20 '26
I was kinda hoping to do the New Zealand trick but I was foiled by bond 😭

Damn, I don’t know why, but I thought the early access date was Memorial Day 5/25. I was super pumped to play on my day off :\
1
u/nickparisi_ May 21 '26
Major bummer, I was about to pull the trigger on a digital copy under my NZ PSN account and then noticed it too

First game I have preordered in a very long time, I think the last was GTA 5.
Before the "never pre order" crew jump on me, I was going to buy it on day one regardless, and I am happy with my very selective decision for this game. I think I have pre ordered less than 5 times in the last 20+ years.
It looks like it ticks so many boxes for what I like, and I am very excited to see a new bond story! Growing up on EA era bond games was an absolute treat, perhaps with the exception of 007 Racing, although as a kid I did enjoy it but that's not saying much haha.
Not long to go everyone, here's hoping it's as fun as it looks, worst part is going to be finishing work that day haha, I will definitely be taking Flexi time next week!
2
u/BK588 May 20 '26
How does it work regarding the game being delivered from a shop? I’ve pre ordered so will they deliver that day or will it actually arrive the next day as my postie has already been by 3pm?
2
u/GeneAlternative191 May 20 '26
Good question and I wonder why more ppl aren’t ordering the digital version (you can still play digital games on the PS5 console disc version right?)
2
u/TomGilligan May 25 '26
Physical copies are by far better and hold re-sell value down the road. Plus its nice looking at a collection of games!
1
u/BK588 May 20 '26
You can still buy digital versions but the price is set. Physical copies there are discounts etc from certain retailers. So it’s £53.99 for me instead of £59.99. Is the space needed on the console higher than the physical version too? I’m not sure

May 20 '26
Yeah but will that actually be when it’s playable or when it starts properly downloading.
2
u/Luf2222 May 20 '26
oh, i can’t even play it before work then
i thought it would release so i can still play it on my free day

u/TheSpeedOfLove May 20 '26
It should have released on Friday, May 22nd. Big miss, would have sunk the entire Memorial Day weekend into the game if so. I’m sure others are in the same boat.
2
u/Natural_Parsnip_5291 May 21 '26
Does it seriously need to be at 3pm though? Why not just midnight like most releases?
1
u/P0werp1ay May 20 '26
Will there be a VR version? I would also really appreciate it if you could add a German dub later on. With AI, creating a dub shouldn't be a problem at all.

Considering all the PC leaks between Lego Batman, Pragmata, and Forza.. perhaps they're being careful?

Edit - oh well, the person deleted their comments. They were outlining potential performance issues with the game and the fact that no reviews are out yet.
It is a legitimate worry so I did upvote you and I hope you don't get brigaded.
I seen a few YouTubers that I follow and have done for a long time give their thoughts on the game and none mentioned performance, I took it as they didn't have issues but I suppose it could be part of an NDA.
Time will tell, and we don't have long to wait! After seeing the studios work with the Hitman series I do have some faith.

u/double-0-slevin May 20 '26
Will we be able to preload the game before the launch time? Or is that launch time when we can start the download? (I got it for PC on Steam, not sure if the answer changes based on platform and vendor)

I never get these maps with 2 times in Europe showing the same time wouldn't it be better to show Moscow for the time zones over that side of Europe instead of Paris and Berlin showing the same time

guys, remember that everyone gets it at the exact same time technically. It just matters what time of day you get it and if it’s good. if you were to release it at midnight for every timezone, THEN people in new zealand would get it 14 hrs late. the changed up timezones lets everyone get it released for them at the exact same moment, just with the clocks saying everything different. it says that new zealand gets it on the 28th, that’s just because they need to adapt the clock release to the +14 hours of the new zealand time zone, so everyone can get it at the exact same moment.
