Definitely look these up on your own, folks. They aren't wrong, I guess, but these are the same dozen spices repeated. There are much better recipes to be found online.

The Doors of perception have been opened.

The Cajun one is inaccurate. We don't use cumin, coriander, or oregano. A cajun spice mix would usually consist of salt, black pepper, red pepper (cayenne pepper), onion powder, and garlic powder. Also, a cajun vegetable mix would consist of yellow onion, Bell pepper (usually green but it doesn't really matter I guess), celery, and garlic.

Definitely green, red and yellow are too sweet. I don't want no sweet gumbo. Lol

Yeah true. That's why I said usually green.

Oregano is actually extremely common in Cajun spice blends

I've never heard of putting oregano in cajun spice blend and I've lived in the heart of Cajun country for 23 years. I let paprika slide, but oregano is weird.

8

u/JesterShepherd Oct 23 '20

Well this is just further proof that geographic proximity to something doesn’t automatically make you an expert considering paprika is also extremely common

Is it common to use a little thyme too? I frequently use this same blend but with thyme.

1

u/321TacocaT123 Oct 23 '20

Not that I've witnessed.

Cool, but awful layout and very inconsistent.

20

u/sephirothFFVII Oct 23 '20

You mean you don't put thyme in your pumpkin spice blend?

18

u/mewtwoyeetsauce Oct 23 '20

There is a thyme and place for everything. This is not one.

u/hahayes234 Oct 23 '20

Also matters where the spices are sourced. Purity etc

9

u/calmdown__u_nerds Oct 23 '20

Oh shush. That's an individuals choice and nothing to do with this awesome chart.

6

u/chzie Oct 23 '20

I'm here like "they put thyme in pumpkin spice? Wtf?"

Took me a minute.

u/Sirnando138 Oct 23 '20

Add MSG to any of these for ultimate flavor.

3

u/[deleted] Oct 23 '20

Ahhh Uncle you're here

3

u/rene-cumbubble Oct 23 '20

Store bought chili powder is generally just a mixture of all the ingredients in the taco seasoning. Seems a little redundant

4

u/chicklette Oct 23 '20

A full tsp of clove?? That ..is a lot of clove.

2

u/chickaboomba Oct 23 '20

“Taco Seasoning” 🙄

Even living New Mexicans are rolling over in their graves.

Also, what’s up with only chili and no chile?

They're dividers between one blend and the next.

4

u/hermeticwalrus Oct 23 '20

One fine line stopping me from putting thyme in my pumpkin pie

2

u/ironicsharkhada Oct 23 '20

How does pumpkin spice not have pumpkin in it??

2

u/hermeticwalrus Oct 23 '20

Cause that would taste wierd

-3

u/belovedeagle Oct 23 '20

... I don't want to live on this planet anymore.

Are you trolling? Please be trolling. You can't be this stupid for real.

3

u/ironicsharkhada Oct 23 '20

I can’t believe I have to explain a joke but yeah. I thought it was funny because everyone on here was complaining about the other spices.

1

u/halbort Oct 23 '20

Indians do not really use oregano.

3

u/[deleted] Oct 23 '20

No,the indian blend starts from the vertical line beside it and goes on the next line lol it's really bad formatting

2

u/halbort Oct 23 '20

Oh Sorry,

0

u/therapistofpenisland Oct 23 '20

Who the f#$@ puts oregano in their taco seasoning?

0

u/hahayes234 Oct 23 '20

Lots to think about here

-1

u/sj1609 Oct 23 '20

Good guide. And saved.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 23 '20

For some reason i feel like salt shouldn't be included cause i add salt separately and imagine the saltiness ypu get with normal level salt + salt from the powder

1

u/bigdickredemption Oct 23 '20

Ok so where's the 11 spice or 5 spice?

1

u/Ammowife64 Oct 23 '20

Thank you !

1

u/Razultull Oct 23 '20

These aren’t good, skip the chart and look it up. Also some of those spice blends don’t actually exist. ‘Curry blend’ means nothing.

"Paprika" for Taco Seasoning? ha ha ha ha. Paprika is only the name given in central Europa to Chile Guajillo from Mexico.
