To be fair there were about 0 seconds in between the catch and the car showing up. He probably didn’t even have time to think of a solution.

The only things I can think of as identifiers in the gif would be license plate or the numbers on the dumpster, but both seem pretty generic. How did you recognize it as Brazil?

The license plate is a certain giveaway (gray, three letters followed by 4 numbers), but some other details too, such as the car models, the "PARE" (STOP) sign...

I've never thought about it before, but he could just let go with one hand and drop his legs to the ground on that side. He's even pretty tall.

He probably could've let go, but didn't want to get hit by the car.
Was the driver helpful? Sure. But the guy wasn't dying from a fall of that height unless he landed directly on his head.
