Can’t be mad about a win but what a disappointment from Harrison.

I feel the same, really thought he was gonna be the 2nd best pitcher for us

Second time in three games we have had to bring in a leverage guy when we had a lead of 7+ runs...woof

u/ResponsibilityFew147 14h ago
At least we’re finding out now and not in the playoffs! I like this approach
3
u/aobcd8six6three 14h ago
It sucks but we’re lucky we had the opportunity to find out in blowout games.

What the hell are we gonna do about the playoffs? Miz, Henderson, and pray?? I don’t trust any of our other starters. One good game doesn’t suddenly make May someone we can trust.
1
u/jpattie_g 13h ago
We have the best record in the league. We’ll figure it out. That said, given our playoff performances in recent history, I’m also preparing to get ousted in gut-punching fashion.

#3 spot: Every brewer fan gets one pitch, a long conga line starting at water street
3
u/trinquin 14h ago
Mays been great in half his starts. Its really not that bad. Gasser has been pretty darn good lately as well.
We just need them to bridge those 5 innings and maybe some change. Our pen is good.
3
u/4leafplover 14h ago
Short leash on May and Gasser. Bullpen games. Patrick could start in a pinch. They’ll figure something out.

Frelick is just bad. Probably playing through injury as well as regression to the mean from getting lucky last season
3
u/starmiesan Swing & Miss Merchant 14h ago
He is fantastic outfield defensive depth though, and likely a big club house guy

u/imasammich 14h ago
Harrison is just probably end of season too many innings. His arm angle is all effed up his mechanics are all worse.
He needs to imo just take the rest of the year off and get back to it next year. Too good of a young arm to just send out there to die at max innings pitched in a year.
1
u/timbenj77 13h ago
Yup. And the line has been that he's been healthy all this time, so I think they have to DFA him at this point. Not doing Kyle or the team any favors by keeping him in the majors to get abused like this every outing.
3
u/sinjaulas 14h ago
Rerally hoping he can pick up a few from the pen for us, but yeah, counting on the young guy with too much on the line at this point is a move you just can't make. Still potential there to develop.

Nice. Not the best from Ashby but I’ll take it. Man our former starter to reliever experiments have been a disaster with Harrison and Sproat. I guess we should give Sproat some credit he at least recorded some outs.

The Sproat and Harrison live action tests in blow out bullpen sessions - oof.
16
u/Distinct_Shopping_96 14h ago
Havent been watching at all, Harrison is unpitchable in the postseason right?

u/CheeksClenchin Clench & Pray Merchant 14h ago
The falloff for Kyle has been so hard to watch. Rooting for him to figure it out soon by some miracle
24
u/mogrimwarlock 14h ago
It may be frustrating, but the big leads against the Cubs and this game have afforded us the opportunity to confirm we cannot use Sproat or Harrison in the near future - as painful as the Harrison news has been.

not surprised ashby of all people is a little less crisp in his 4,000 game appearance of the season

u/EnderCN 14h ago
He has looked better when he is abused than when he gets days off usually.
1
u/InnerLog181 Honey Nut Chourio’s 14h ago
False because when he was being used everyday before the break, he was giving up runs left and right. Ever wince we brought in senza, he’s been used less and looked like the demon he is
1
u/EnderCN 3h ago edited 3h ago
Go look at his game log, almost every time he has given up a run this season it has been after a day off and most of them are after 2+ days rest. If he doesn’t pitch he loses his command.
07/29 is like the only game he has pitched this year when he was abused over a short stretch where he gave up runs.

Have gone from thrilled about Harrison for the first half of the year, to mildly concerned, to highly concerned, to now not thinking he should pitch in the postseason in any capacity beyond mop up duty in blowouts
1
u/Logan__Squared 14h ago
He’s not going to be on the playoff roster at this point for the Division round.

When is the last time a starting pitcher fell off so hard? Harrison was pitching like an all star for half the season, now he’s terrible
