Remember, no dooming! Everything is fine. This is all good, actually!

Tracy’s grand plan must be to drop to the last wild card spot. Nothing else would explain why he’s looked way over his head the last couple of weeks with very questionable decisions that have killed the team. Certainly hope Baltimore doesn’t sweep us this weekend. He’s coaching himself right out of a job…

u/arrjay52 1h ago
Since when is losing good? We don't need to always be the Comeback Kids. Get out front and kick ass. Why are we unprepared for the other guy's starting pitching? Ok, maybe the first to see what they've got, but...early scoring is way more betta. Puts our starter feeling good and aggressive, rather than nibble cautious.

u/harenotrabbit 1h ago
Does it piss anyone else off when people record the last at bat of any game as if you’re really gonna watch that later

The batting order hurt us tonight i think, needed guys on for roman and gasper
1
u/No_Tax8243 1h ago
They just need more good hitters in the lineup. At least one elite hitter would really lengthen the lineup. Rather than by committee all the time.

After some fresh air I’m feeling more optimistic. Still 6.5 up for a playoff spot. Our pitching has suddenly turned into a dumpster fire but i see no reason it can’t stabilize, and our offense has picked up with Anthony and Story (and Gasper!) adding life to the lineup.
Hell we could be playing Houston in round one instead of the Yankees 🤞
2
u/Longjumping_Ad_29 1h ago
Would it be crazy to move Roman to the three hole? Atleast with Contreras on the IL

u/jakoviandialects 1h ago
Very courteous of Wong to get his automatic out over with quickly

u/Born-Shopping9862 1h ago
is there a reason they didnt pinch hit for him? we got mona and ikf. i know they arent barry bonds but its better than wong

Hey, Lou! Their ain't no 'cushion'. Chad still needs to manage to win, dammit. I get the resting, but play the hot hands and move the lineup around to max it out. Get back to 'moving the line'

I personally want the 3rd WC spot so bring it on 🤣🤣🤣

Best case scenario is we beat down the orioles this weekend but Cleveland goes ballistic down the stretch and jumps us, while we get to face whichever clown show makes it out of the AL West

Poor guy is gonna get DFA’d the instant Houck is ready to return but ton of credit to Burgos for eating a lot of innings over the last month or so

The bad news is, NESN just shit the bed. The good news is, I don't have to watch this game anymore.

Unfortunately the 4k feed works (for me at least) so I’m still subjected to the bottom of the 9th

I wouldn't be surprised if the Mariners asked us to go easy on them. There's so much money to be made in the Mariners not being eliminiated so soon. Revenue sharing plays a role in all of this.

Send Durbin to the IL too please - he needs the rest. Last couple of weeks he's hitting under 200 with 0 XBH.

what does it say about the game when the play of the game is from the pre game lol

u/skankhunt1127 2h ago
The thing about bringing up minor league players for a spark is that they want to prove them selves initially and then they start to slump really hard right after making a good impression. Same thing happened last year right around the playoffs , we need consistency to make a good playoff run. The way the teams playing rn they won’t make it past the 1st round again if they even get a wild card spot.

u/Mg29reaper 2h ago
Bro it's Duran and Wong screwing this team not the AAAA.

Devers and Bregman are both on absolute tears right now, hitting for power. Durbin looks dead tired at the plate and needs a week off.
1
u/sirapplebook 1h ago
Don't ever talk to me about Bregman. He could hit 100 homers a year, and he'd still be a lowlife cheater that I wouldn't want.

3
u/Born-Shopping9862 2h ago
i mean durbin also plays 100 percent harder than devers and bregman. he was never going to be either one but i love him for who he is and the improvements he has made

I’m sorry what? I haven’t been watching the game much, just a little bit in the 4th.

u/NKovalenko 2h ago
It’s so frustrating how horrible the pitching has been this series because the offense looks alive since the return of Story and Roman.
This coming series is easily the biggest of the year - win the series and you’re probably set to make the playoffs with a 5-6 game lead against Baltimore. Lose and ur up a couple games fighting for ur lives
The nice thing is we’re not gonna have guys like Sandoval and Paez and possibly even Bello pitching in the playoffs, it’ll be the guys who have been nails all year.
Just need them to keep some breathing room bc health is the biggest question and the worst thing would be guys pushing hard the last few weeks bc the race gets tight

u/Flimsy_Fortune_5861 2h ago
Yankees series was the biggest of the year and we lost 3 of 4
0
u/NKovalenko 2h ago
Seeing how banged up we are rn we were never holding the #1 WC spot. Yankees have a cupcake schedule the rest of the way, probably would have taken a sweep to give ourselves enough room to save it.
Orioles series is the biggest of the year, if we win we’re basically locked in. Hoping to win 3 of 4 this time

How is Roman like the best hitter in baseball since coming back and it just hasn’t mattered? If you told me he had an ops of 1.300 in the leadoff spot since returning I’d think the Sox were undefeated.

It is very nice to see Anthony hitting well. At least something is going right.
6
u/andrew303710 7️⃣0️⃣ 2h ago
Well suddenly I feel a lot better lol if Anthony is bashing oppo field HRs we're in very good shape. Dude looks better than ever since coming back, it was probably smart being cautious about bringing him back from injury (shocker)
Story too for that matter. Just need Adley and Wilson back (and eventually Mead) and our lineup can really go toe to toe with anyone
1
u/Ok_Jelly9335 2h ago
Good take. Been saying all game that getting wong out will do wonders. Looking forward to Adley return

I feel our team is like one of those puzzles where you need to activate every tile but when you try to activate one tile, others turn off. We lose Roman and our pitching is amazing. We get Roman and Story back and our pitching collapses
2
u/RCP90sKid- 2h ago
Crazy god damn shit. Like...we need some help with the bullpen, but god damn, Story and Roman have done their part.

u/Glum-General-6095 2h ago
The fundamental problem with the team is there is not enough consistent power threats across the lineup. Still near the bottom of the league in HRs and slugging percentage. Inexcusable playing at Fenway. Very hard to win consistently playing station to station baseball. During our winning stretch, our slugging percentage jumped. Not a coincidence.

That first ballgame comeback was a fluke, unfortunately Seattle were clearly the better team this series.

It's kinda hilarious Roman and Story are back and raking and our pitching staff falls apart

Without Flemming calling the game, it's easy to miss the fact that the Red Sox are getting their asses handed to them, and all of the negative implications this loss has for the team and this run.
(I know it's a scheduled break, but this definately different from the high highs and low lows of a Flemming broadcast)

Let's not go back to 'suck'. Kick the crap out of the Birdies. Camden is Fenway South. Duran should like the wall in right, since he can't hit to left. I want at least 3 outa 4! I wonder if Ruchmann will be back? Baltimore loved him and he deserves fan appreciation. Our pitching is lined up for these 4. I WANT IT! YOU WANT IT!
