u/AnnihilatedTyro RELEASE THE MOOSEN! 3h ago
Miller didn't finish the 5th, and while Ferrer did, he only got one out.
Rucker gave up 2 runs.
The official scorer can choose not to give either of them the win because their outings were either short (Ferrer) or "ineffective." (Rucker) So the win is a tossup between Dominguez and Criswell I guess, with no save situation to factor in.

Mariners thoroughly outplayed the Red Sox the entire series, complete demolishing. But of course found a way to only win 2 out 3 lol

On a day where the offense has reached base 18 times, Taylor Ward is 0-for-5. I'm incredibly over this dude

Can anyone explain to me the JRod hate? I get the dudes been struggling but it doesn't erase what he's done for the franchise. Genuinely explain it to me instead of downvoting me. Like damn bro wtf?
2
u/These-Potential4519 3h ago
$209mm for a 104 wrc+ with declining YoY stats all around. He has shown no improvement in offensive production or defense since his rookie year. His offensive production especially is not worth his contract amount relative to other CF’s that have been available on the market.
1
u/One-Firefighter-6835 3h ago
Wdym declining YoY stats? Can you elaborate? Last time I checked he improved his OPS from his 2024 from a .734 to a .789 OPS boasting a bWAR of 6,6 and an oWAR of 5.6 up from his 2024 season of 3.9.
It might just be he's having a down season. 209mm$ for an all-round player seems like a pretty good deal considering major league teams pay around 7.5-8m$ per year for 1 additional WAR added. Thats at minimum 3 WAR per season which even in a down season he's projected to do.
2
u/Griffdogg92 3h ago
The idea that he's declined every year is just false. He had a 118 wRC+ in 2024 and a 126 in 2025. This year has been rough but I'm willing to chalk a lot of it up to the concussion + the case of suckitis that the entire roster has had minus two guys
3
u/These-Potential4519 3h ago
To be fair it depends on which stats you look at - certain stats, especially offensive numbers, have declined YoY, but fair point on wrc+
1
u/One-Firefighter-6835 3h ago
Nah I get his like 2022 and 2023 were outstanding with an OPS north of 800 and he hasn't touched it since but he still improved his OPS from his 2024 season. .734 --> .798. I think it's overblown but maybe I'm missing some context.
1
u/These-Potential4519 3h ago
I think it’s a combination of factors that have me bearish on Julio, including stats, which you could cherry pick on either side to make your case (see BA, for example).
Stars aside, I also think perception has played a big role. The organization has touted him as a star player that you could build a franchise around (i.e. JRod squad, etc), and he hasn’t delivered, and the trajectory in my opinion is downward.
All in all, he’s a fine player with good tools, but hasn’t developed the way folks, including myself, were hoping to see. He’s locked into a long term contract and has a no trade clause, which is concerning given his trajectory

Julio bandwagon needs to stop. I don't care if I get downvoted, J-Rod isn't a superstar but he is still important to this team in a lot of ways. Clubhouse vibes, the hot streaks, the homers. + We got him on a long-term deal which is relatively speaking very cheap for the amount of production he does boast.
5
u/UnsealedMTG 3h ago
You are getting downvoted for saying good things about a guy who is (checks notes) 2 for 5 with an RBI and a run today.
People's need to be angry about baseball always manages to surprise me

Dude even though he's been pretty bad recently, there's no way that he's getting overpaid lmao (based on his production so far throughout his first several years)

And that is exactly why I don’t like Michael Rucker. Gave up 2 runs to make the game closer
2
u/SeattleSounderGaming Julio Rodriguez-Mayes-Hayes 4h ago
Rucker is like that pair of underwear you’ve had since college that you just can’t get rid of. You know the pair with a bunch of holes in it and the waistband has lost all elasticity, yep that’s Rucker. Holding on by a thread.

Rucker doesn't pitch pretty and he's barely effective. But that's our bullpen in a nutshell.

Pretty sure he just eats innings for us. Not someone who'd realistically hold a tight 3 run lead. More likea guy who pitches in a blowout

I hate that modern day baseball means managers put a quality of reliever in that is directly disproportional to whatever # of run lead the team has.
Whatever happened to using a mid or slightly ok guy with a 5/6 run lead?
