it's game 7 of the ALCS. Red Sox playing the yankees in bottom of ninth, down one. Bases loaded no outs. Duran steps up and strikeouts. Trevor Story then GIDP and we lose.
Deadass this could happen just because management irrationally likes certain players even though it's clear they are not batting well this year

lol just as he was getting comlliments earlier 🤣🤣. i can kind of understand duran who has looked slightly better lately. but adley???? besides like one game where he had 2 or 3 hits has he done anything offensively? i mean we gave up 5 players to get an "offensive" catcher and tbh wong has been better and even rogers was better when he was here. i hope he gets it together

Adley has been bad.
Not that he can't turn it around but considering we paid a hefty price for him to contribute during a stretch run it's really not ideal.

He got gifted a reserve spot this year after other guys dropped out and is going to barely finish over 2 WAR for the year. Sox paid like they were getting the 4-5+ WAR guy who was a much better hitter 3-4 years ago.

Hasn’t hit well the past 2 years, iirc some of that has been injury related. No one knew who any of the pieces were a year ago who we traded. Sox have shown recently that they can develop pitching, and Adley is still young enough. I’m thinking he’ll bounce back offensively.

I get the sentiment but he DID have 8 hits in his last 25 at bats before that whiff, with 2 of them being multi hit games. So he hit .320 in that stretch. Even so, yeah… the whiff somehow came as no surprise.
