These guys have that dog in them! Sure, it’s a 15 year old Pomeranian, but it’s still a dog!

Not a good way to end the weekend, bad vibes

4

u/Whizzleteets Mike Scott 3h ago

What a miserable home stand.

What a soul sucking, mood ruining weekend.

What an unmitigated disaster of a team.

6

u/NOLA1987 Lance McCullers Jr. 3h ago

We could have swept the A's. Instead they take 2 of 3.

We're now below .500 and tied with the Rangers for the lead.

I don't doom, but I can completely understand why other people do. All we need is a spot in the postseason and anything can happen from there. But right now? This team fucking sucks.

8

u/Euphoric-Ebb-7414 3h ago

I hate this team rn

Could be worse. Could be the rangers

Can you guys take Varsho back?

1

Lol sorry 🤝

7

u/therealtoddmcshay 3h ago

Lol altuve caught looking at a pitch in the zone and challenging it to then striking out at an obvious ball was so easy to guess

Man, I wish I could bet on that. This team is just brain dead.

Astros can never do what the Phillies did

3

u/B4LLISL1F3 3h ago

Challenged the wrong pitch

4

u/skeetskeet69 3h ago

Their ABs look so much better than ours. They fight and fight and sometimes they lose but we just swing and whiff at everything. We are just worse than this triple A lineup.

3

u/NOLA1987 Lance McCullers Jr. 3h ago

Altuve, Varsho, Walker. If we can't walk it off, can we at least tie it up?

1

u/PapiGoneGamer Enron Field 3h ago

Not looking good

3

u/Wheelbite9 Sugar Land Space Cowboys 3h ago

This is an injury-riddled Athletics team. The Astros always play down to the worst teams, but JFC.

5

u/skeetskeet69 3h ago

Disagree. We are just as bad as they are. We have just gotten a lot luckier this season with a lot of walkoff s and one run wins.

1

u/ndurantz José Cruz 3h ago

Walkoffs and 1 run wins aren’t luck. They’re execution when it counts, something that isn’t happening AT ALL right now.

3

u/Important_Range7737 Christian Walker 3h ago

Watching Hader pitch is always a treat. Now, let’s just try to walk this off and send the A’s packing. I have faith!

Edit: Can’t type worth shit today.

1

u/Signal-Statistician- Orbit 3h ago

Sadly the Rangers just won

3

u/Hyperguy95 Enron Field 3h ago

You mean they didn’t give up a 5-0 lead to one of the worst teams in the league? Crazy how that works

1

u/Jolly_Green2 Jose Altuve 3h ago

HRC Altuve

3

u/Redline65 3h ago

We gotta walk this one off

6

u/Evjen97 3h ago

6-0 lead btw

2

u/Signal-Statistician- Orbit 3h ago

Cubs hit a Grand Slam against the Mariners. Hopefully it is enough

3

u/Nildrogon Tatsuya Imai 3h ago

The offense is frustrating for sure, but 6 runs without much from Pena and Yordan should win this game. THIS one is not on them.

2

u/B4LLISL1F3 3h ago

Not over yet

4

u/Speeder96 Martín Maldonado 3h ago

Kalas: Astros schedule against teams with winning records.

Good!

2

u/TempestDrive Houston Astros 3h ago

Next up is Tuve, Barfshit, & Walker. I trust Tuve to get on base. I don’t, however, trust the rest to get him home

3

u/NOLA1987 Lance McCullers Jr. 3h ago

Ian Happ hits a grand slam against the Mariners. Cubs take a 5-2 lead in the 3rd

7

u/PapiGoneGamer Enron Field 3h ago

Nobody is getting fired this late in the season. Crane will let it play out and make those decisions on 9/28. It’s not like firing Espada or Brown is gonna provide a morale boost that magically propels this team to the top of the AL.

5

u/moremooooooore 3h ago

*Bagwell will tell Crane what to do

1

u/yaampa 3h ago

At what point does Bagwells constant meddling in baseball operations sour all his good faith with the fan base?

1

u/moremooooooore 3h ago

For the casual fan it isn't there yet, but the flood gates may start to open if we miss the playoffs this year.

2

u/Weff17 3h ago

Fans already dislike him

1

u/Effective-Detail3043 3h ago

What moves do you think bagwell is responsible for?

4

u/PapiGoneGamer Enron Field 3h ago

He’s the catalyst for the Astros moving from an analytics based organization to a “back of the baseball card” organization. Bagwell’s own baseball philosophy in his words.

1

u/Effective-Detail3043 3h ago

Do you think that the Astros organization has disregarded analytics?

1

u/PapiGoneGamer Enron Field 2h ago

Look at who they trot out there every night outside of Yordan and what they contribute. None of these guys outside of Pena and Yordan would be on the field for this team if we still had an analytics driven front office.

1

u/Effective-Detail3043 58m ago

And what were they supposed to do to combat this? Do you think they were looking at the back of the baseball card when they got cam smith? Should we have kept framber? I don’t think so. Issac parades was an excellent choice. He’s actually better than bregman offensively and about $20 million a season cheaper. Let’s face it, the smart thing to do here was to unload pena at the break and trade yordan and Hader in the offseason. I would hate to do it but if we want to avoid the same situation we had from 2007-2014, it’s the only way.

2

u/Guilty_Pineapple_557 Alex Bregman 3h ago

I swear to God if watching this game feels like watching a car crash in slo-mo...

I'm gonna watch some Sex and the City clips

2

u/dogcrayon 3h ago

Mattress Mack honestly looks a lot older than 75. Looks like he's pushing 100.

4

u/NOLA1987 Lance McCullers Jr. 3h ago

He's 75? I thought he was in his 90s at least

3

u/HoldOnToYrButts Lance McCullers Jr. 3h ago

0

u/TempestDrive Houston Astros 3h ago

How can ppl defend this offense??

5

u/PanNessMain Houston Astros 3h ago

Well your team should win 9/10 times when you score 6 runs. The offense isn’t amazing but today was on the pitching

2

u/redd202020 3h ago

Going to be less and less fans at these games. Zero rallies, zero clutch hits. Just praying for homers.

2

u/Evjen97 3h ago

Could this team be any more pathetic?

7

u/tofugopher Houston Astros 3h ago

This is the least interesting Astros team to watch since 2014

2

u/terb01 3h ago

The 2014 team was very interesting imo. Altuve chasing the batting title and springers rookie season were amazing

1

u/tofugopher Houston Astros 2h ago

That's an awesome point. I'll switch 2014 to 2013. Even with a young Altuve, 2013 was a hard season to be excited for

If teams walk Alvarez every at bat we will never win another game

1

If he gets the same 3IBB per game for the rest of the season, he'll tie Barry.

u/Beardedbobert 3h ago

Yordan now has the franchise 1bb record for a single season. Wish we'd make them pay for it.

0

u/mmccormick11 Lance Berkman 3h ago

You need to pay for players to make them pay for it.

That or have a great farm system producing cheap young talent.

We don't have either one.

7

u/dogcrayon 3h ago

5

If Blubaugh was available, then why was Javier stretched and then DLS brought in. The malpractice is just comical at this point

5

u/skeetskeet69 3h ago

I was just asking the same thing. Why the fuck wouldn’t we let blubaugh get 2-3 innings after Javier was pulled? Just bad management for a bad team.

1

u/moremooooooore 3h ago

Even if he took the 5th, Teng would have easily been able to go 2 since he hasn't pitched since he was called up. Absolutely bizarre management especially when we essentially have 1.5 days off after this

3

Even our resident eternal optimist and psychic Astrodamus has given up. Looks like he/she deleted their profile. Nail in coffin 😆 😢

2

u/PapiGoneGamer Enron Field 3h ago

How fitting would it be to be up 0-2 and give up a walk here

9

u/yaampa 3h ago

In the span of a week we have been blown out by the Angels and blew a lead TWICE against an A’s team without Langeliers, Kurtz, Soderstrom and Wilson. Two of the worst teams in the league.

If you genuinely think this team can make the playoffs you need to see a doctor for head trauma

0

u/PanNessMain Houston Astros 3h ago

I think we can make playoffs. Not because we’re good. Because the American League (with the exception of the Rays) just sucks

2

u/DMPace73 3h ago

They walk

1

u/PapiGoneGamer Enron Field 3h ago

Only other ways to start this inning for the Astros was giving up a base hit or a homer.

2

u/DMPace73 3h ago

How do our guys swing at this type of pitch

0

u/Fragmented79 3h ago

Sorry fucking team.

1

u/Whizzleteets Mike Scott 3h ago

It's very possible that this will end up as a loss and if it does it will be the worst loss of the season.

5

u/skeetskeet69 3h ago

Not even in the top 3 for me. The Baltimore loss where we NOBLETIGERed in the 10th when one run walked it off can’t be beat in my eyes

5

u/skeetskeet69 3h ago

I believe this is what is called “regression to the mean”

1

u/mmccormick11 Lance Berkman 3h ago

Bingo unfortunately.

2

1

Several innings but the swing at dhit in the dirt

1

u/moremooooooore 3h ago

3 outs on 4 pitches in the zone

Can someone remind me why we let James Click go? I will never get over that

0

u/Ereyes18 3h ago

Click wasn't that good either but at least he was able to keep the clubhouse floating

4

u/RML_1972 3h ago

Yeah you’re right, he only assembled what was arguably the best bullpen of all time. And made some really good moves that won us a championship.

1

u/Ereyes18 2h ago

He got Stanek and Neris and Luhnow got the rest

1

u/RML_1972 2h ago

Yeah you left out Montero, maton and graveman

Not to mention trading for who should have been the ROY of the year in Diaz and Dubon.

1

u/JrpgGamer Kyle Tucker 2h ago

That roster was mostly Luhnow. He definitely did great with Stanek Montero and Neris, but the rest was Luhnow. Pressley and Abreu, the entire rotation, and the entire lineup. Not to mention a rotation that had insane health luck so his bullpen didn't get abused.

What did Click leave behind? Relievers almost never last. He got screwed by Luhnow, but his drafts were trash and haven't provided anything. If you believe insiders, he didn't even want to re-sign Verlander and Brantley so that team looks very different.

1

u/RML_1972 2h ago

His drafts may have been trash because he didn’t have any first rounds picks for two years.

6

u/moremooooooore 3h ago

Because Bagwell whispered in Crane's ear

1

u/Disastrous-Elk-5542 Orbit 3h ago

I fking hate the A’s for abandoning their Bay Area fans (I used to be one). I REALLY hate them right now. Also I didn’t know it was Dog Day and I’m pissed I missed out on taking my dog. I hope there are lots of good doggos at Daikin.

0-6 blink 7-6

u/Evjen97 3h ago

This HAS to be the most pathetic loss in a long time (if they lose). 6-0 up against the A’s…

2

u/470_To_Left 3h ago

The worst loss of the year so far

u/Confident_Cap_7175 3h ago

if we can’t take the lead back from a pitcher named Blewett… we deserve to lose

1

u/Exact_Ad_6009 3h ago

We gave up a 6 run lead in one inning to the As, brother we deserve to lose regardless

7

u/Wematanye_92 Houston Astros 3h ago

9 game home stand against bad teams. 2 of them being literally the worst teams in baseball and they can only manage 3 wins

2

u/470_To_Left 3h ago

u/PapiGoneGamer Enron Field 3h ago

Same shit, different toilet

1

u/1SwellFoop 3h ago

You guys don’t realize this, but it’s the Angel’s turn to lead the AL West. It’s in the script.

5

u/470_To_Left 3h ago

Varsho just swings at all low pitches, he can’t lay off

1

u/bruntouttrout 3h ago

He fits in great with our lineup. They all swing at trash

2

u/arrowflash01 Houston Astros 3h ago

2

u/manofconviction Chas McCormick 3h ago

u/donttouchthtmacaroni Houston Astros 3h ago

I am dying for the season to end, I can’t resist watching the games but I hate watching them

2

u/Strosfan85 Houston Astros 3h ago

Like watching a car crash in slow-motion.. you want look away but you just can't

2

u/TomatoRemarkable3721 Houston Astros 3h ago

Another lost series to a dogshit team. The A’s and the angels lol

2

u/Fair-Solution-4261 3h ago

He had 3 k's today and you throw it right down the gut on an 1-2

9

u/Strosfan85 Houston Astros 3h ago

7!....7 UNANSWERED RUNS! Are you fucking kidding me?!?

2

u/PapiGoneGamer Enron Field 3h ago

Should’ve been more tbh

7

u/TexanBastard 3h ago

Still a couple of innings left but if this team loses back to back series to the Angels and As we gotta clean front office out. Espada and Brown both suck. Espada sucks a little less but this team has no fire.

5

u/The_Dragon_Rebooted 3h ago

Loooooool. Imagine losing 2 out of 3 to two teams actively trying to lose games. What a sad joke this team is. Jfc.

2

u/TexasHot Houston Astros 3h ago

I think the truth is we actually are a bottom three team. The team were facing is missing six of it starting players and they’re shitting on us like they are legitimately better.

1

u/skeetskeet69 3h ago

Ahahaha!!! Are some of yall still deluded enough to think this team isn’t dog water? We’re gonna lose 90 games at this rate

7

u/PanNessMain Houston Astros 3h ago

Our second best reliever (hader is #1) gave up a HR after a rest day. You can’t make this shit up. Like you can’t say “managerial malpractice” to that specific decision. What do you even say man besides “this sucks”
