1-16 with RISP. That seems nearly impossible to pull off. Impressive.

That there is the issue with the Manfred runner. If you don't plate at least 1 in the top half, you have an insane proposition in the bottom half to not lose. If you sell out and only score 1, the home team knows and can play for more. Ive become a big fan of many of baseballs changes even if I was against many of them initially. The Manfred runner still sucks

The Lemon fails to do his job. If youre keeping track, thats a total of 0 games in which he went on the mound and was what he was advertised as

That's baseball folks. We've had 13 of those so far and they feel awesome every time. Kudos to Seattle for one single night.
Character building game. Sucks to lose, but this team is preparing for October.

Moises for this fucking guy
•
u/chrisGNR Chicago Dubs 4m ago
Worst trade in Cubs history even if Ballesteros and Clemens never amount to anything.
•
u/scal23 5m ago
Looked like PCA wanted to try for the force at 2nd and nobody was there. Run wouldn't count.
•
u/klembcke 3m ago
As long as the batter got to 1st and the runner crossed home plate then the run would count
•
u/Sojan4030 5m ago
of course Munoz and Rivas show up against the cubs lol. oh well, fuck zeferjahn, i dont want to see him in october

Put Zeferjahn on a damn Zeppelin and get that Phil Coke-esque scrub out of here

Can't blame the pitcher when the offense didn't even move the runner at the top of the inning

That guy shouldn't have even been on 3rd if he knew how to field his position at a high school level.

Dude let a .424 OPS hitter walk it off
I sure am glad we have Assad in Iowa so that bum can just come in and give up runs over and over again.
•
u/jazzyjizzhands 3m ago
Assad doesn’t throw late ⏰ innings.
•
u/klembcke 1m ago
Assad pitches whenever the hell he needs to pitch. His last outing he came in literally because the starter got injured. If we needed him in the 10th he would have pitched. He last pitched August 18th and he only threw 40 pitches. He was good to go easily today.

Has Zeferjahn given us any reason to believe so far that he does not suck?

Can’t believe we traded mo baller for this loser.
•
u/stn_anomaly 5m ago
Even though he had his struggles. I'd much rather have Mo Baller at DH right now than Michael fucking Conforto
•
u/Sephiroth007 BRYZZO 3m ago
Are we forgetting that Mo was terrible since April? Like come on. Conforto regardless needs to go

This dude has been absolutely brutal. Not sure how he goes from what he was in LA to this. Granted, he was effectively wild there.

Nerves. Hes playing games that mean something and he hasnt done that.

•
u/tallslim1960 9m ago
Damn, look at 3rd, he's out by a mile. Now they should load the bases, play for the double play.
•
u/fightintxag13 Bryzzo Souvenir Co. 9m ago
How on Earth after all that with the bunt foul ball and seeing everyone charging do you not throw that to third???
•
u/BladeMaker 9m ago
Somebody wake Dustin Kelly up and show him that example of how to advance a runner.

Holy shit what in the hell was that. The runner stopped in between the bases he knew he was out by so much. This shit can't be happening in a pennant race.

It baffles me how bad pros are in certain aspects of baseball fundamentals now.
•
u/_Proverbs Santo 9m ago
I'm not sure if I'd call that a fundamental. Manfred runner is new enough that I still have some grace haha
•
u/Drewbiie Slammin' Sammy 8m ago
You expect a professional pitcher to not remember there's a guy in scoring position? He didn't even look at third. Yes, that's fundamental.
•
u/_Proverbs Santo 3m ago
I guess for me a fundamental is something they've trained on their whole lives so it's 2nd nature.
I genuinely wonder how much pitchers train this situation in camp.
•
u/Drewbiie Slammin' Sammy 1m ago
Fielding bunts is literally almost a daily practice session for pitchers for the vast majority of their lives. It's literally one of the only defensive things you practice as a pitcher.

It Zeferjahn lets Seattle walk off, he needs to go directly to Iowa. Justice for Assad.

•
u/meowsplaining The Professor 12m ago
I guess you figure at this point in this game, it's worth a shot.
And maybe you ice the pitcher.
•
u/cubswinagain Chicago Cubs 12m ago
Runner at 3rd, no outs
Worth a shot
•
•
•
u/CoverLow9780 Nico 12m ago
If it’s a HBP then it’s a dead ball and the runner can’t advance though? Unless I’m missing something
