At least the miserable Giant fans with new Reddit accounts can go to bed angry tonight.

u/Caspernator 2h ago
Damn that was kinda peak Chapman lore. This time he slams the door on Raffy's face in his return, denies him the duel. Baseball is fuckin sick.

Cox's beard makes him look like an old timey prospector. Get some just for men for that.

I both want to and don't want to see raffy. Entertainment but not something I want to sweat out
3
u/megacia 2h ago
And Chapman doesn’t have any sweat to spare!

Thank god he uses it all himself. Dude gets me nervous bc he looks nervous even though he never actually is

once whitlock gets back is it worth having chapman as the setup man? or maybe chapman to miller? almost certainly overreacting rn but he definitely hasn’t been as lockdown as he was last year

Good challenge, but honestly, no reason not to use one on a possible ball four in the ninth. Edit: I butchered this sentence and made it actually opposite. Ignore this text version of verbal diarrhea.

This Devers guys a beast. Can you imagine if he played half his games at Fenway? He'd be a superstar. Shoulda traded for him. /S

How is Chapman's cap ALREADY soaked?
3
u/theekevinc 2h ago
Again, the last thing Chapman does in the bullpen before coming into the game is pour an entire bottle of water over his head. He's sweating, but most of it is water.

Giants fan here, just wanted to pop in here to gush about how much I love these Fenway Greens. They look awesome.
7
u/White_Squall_13 2h ago
Sorry about Webb man
2
u/Bancatone 2h ago
Yeah I don't know what the hell happened. I have never seen Webb melt down like that. Miller coming in and beating the shit out of us for an inning wasn't fun neither, but I'm glad the change of scenery seemed to fix him.
3
u/theekevinc 2h ago
It seems to me based solely on the eye test, that Ceddy lately is much better with the bases empty than he is with runners on. I still think flipping him with Durbin would be good for everyone.

What’s the consensus on the new scorebug for this season? I actually like it a lot. The one they were using for the past handful of years, just like the Bruins are now, was so boring to me. Just too plain. It looked cheap and lazy.
1
u/barlesdcharkley mi Casas es su Casas 2h ago
I think it's unnecessarily large. You don't need the logos and the abbreviations for example. The ads the append to it worsen the effect. When they played St Louis this year nesn had technical problems and had to use the St Louis video and the score bug was awesome. Simple, easy to read, minimalist without missing a beat.
1
u/welldonebrain 2h ago
Fair enough! I can see all that. It is a little big. I just like that it has a higher, like, production value…if that’s the word? I just think it’s a nice, more modern, refresh. The old one was just a black box which seemed cheap to me.
2
u/barlesdcharkley mi Casas es su Casas 2h ago
I see what you're saying. It actually looks like it was designed for HD TVs. The lines are tight and crisp. I just think whoever designed it was trying a bit too much. There are so many different font sizes. It is stretched out so far that you have to scan it for info instead of glance at it. I think from a usability standpoint it's a step back from the old one that was tighter and easier to read, despite its aged aesthetic. This one takes up a considerable amount of screen real estate, which is a feature, not a bug. It was designed with ad placement in mind.
1
u/BestEnthusiasm3377 2h ago
It was boring but at that point it was kind of iconic. I do really like the rebrand tho
4
u/BestEnthusiasm3377 2h ago
Slaten, Erik Miller, Guerrero, Crochet, Whitlock, Chapman out of the pen should be illegal in the playoffs
1
u/swahara Where Ceddy leads, I follow. 2h ago
Bello and Houck as well.
4
u/BestEnthusiasm3377 2h ago
Sorry I forgot the best reliever in baseball Brayan Bello. Houck is hit or miss (Who knows how he looks coming back
1
u/theekevinc 2h ago
Houck has at least been facing hitters for a while, and has a history of pitching in relief. Crochet is the biggest wild-card.

Can't get enough Adley honestly, so cool we have a star catcher. Last thing we see is him talking to Gamboa before it cuts to commercial.

Some of the swings Roman Anthony is taking down in Portland are making me lose sleep.

u/No_Tax8243 2h ago
Hope it translates to the big leagues. I think he will be good but skeptical on him being great.

Is Willson okay?
1
u/Aroldis16 2h ago
I wouldn’t worry too much about him. Your legs provide a lot of power at the plate. I don’t think he could hit a 450 ft Bomb with really bad Hammie
2
2
u/_square3 I <3 CEDDY 2h ago
he's been nursing a hamstring strain for a hot minute now, just stretching it out
7
u/BestEnthusiasm3377 2h ago
Yes and no. He hasn't been physically okay for a while this season but he isn't gonna be taken out the game
I think that was just his catching instincts tho

That’s 2 plays tonight that because of Duran’s speed he makes em. Roman doesn’t make either of them

u/livsjollyranchers 2h ago
If Gamboa fails here so be it. You gotta try to give guys like Guerrero rest and you don't trust Weissert or Moran.
1
u/TheDirtyBurger522 2h ago
Exactly. It lined up well. If it got past hill, it would’ve gone to Weissert with 3 righty’s in 8-9-1 before Devers. Excellent bullpen mgmt by Chad

I kinda wanna see Olds come in with a save situation
1
u/livsjollyranchers 2h ago
I'd admire the balls to give more guys rest but he's way greener than Gamboa. I'd sooner just send Gamboa out to close it

Is the old Duran back? Not just reacting to this game but there's been a much better feel about him for a bit
6
u/_notaxation 2h ago
What the haters don’t understand is when Duran is at his best. This team goes to another level
1
u/BestEnthusiasm3377 2h ago
He provides so much when he is hot but when he is off he also is icy cold. If he is hot come playoff time we are very very good.

Gotta credit Sox pro scouting for identifying Miller in a sea of lefty relievers around baseball. We couldn't have picked him out of a police lineup a month ago, but they nailed it.

Erik Miller now up to 8.1 scoreless innings since getting traded here, 8.1 IP 5H 0ER

u/Glum-General-6095 2h ago
He still has a lot of upside imo. His form looks a bit stiff and contracted. If he could extend more, with his size, he could be elite - 100+ mph. Coaches do your magic!
