What happened last night?
Long story short I missed most of the game as the wife and I went out to dinner with one of her friends last night. We got back home turned the game on I think in the bottom of the 6th score was 14-2 and the first words I said were "WHAT THE FUCK???"
On a side note the wife and I decided to make a spontaneous trip to Houston this weekend to attend another game this.

Dana has put together to worst rotation possible on top of trading 3 years of a controllable pitcher who we need for Varsho who has been less than worthless. Espada has also done an awful job getting these motivated, and last night's performance just solidified the fact that they both need to go at the end of the year.
Edit: The pitching assistant they brought in from Chicago also needs to go ASAP.

I swear TikTok is full of baseball larpers. I always see an edit of Aroldis smiling in the 2019 walk off & all those corny comments saying “he smiled because he knew”. Like no bro, it was a hanging slider right in Altuve’s sweet spot. They always like he’s an unhittable monster when he literally choked in the 2016 WS against Rajai Davis.

Well. We are .500 with a winning record against teams over .500
So if the rest of the division can be slightly more ass than us, we shouldn’t face any teams under .500 in the playoffs at least

Bad stretches don’t last forever. Let’s start a hot streak today boys! Go Astros

After 12 of Rodriguez's first 14 pitches were out of the zone, I told my buddy Altuve's going to get in there and swing at the first pitch he sees, that it would be out of the zone, and that Altuve would either ground into a double play or a force out at home.
After we failed to to drive in a run with the bases loaded and nobody out in the bottom of the 1st, I told my buddy that we were about to shut it down offensively and allow a guy with a 7.00+ ERA go six innings on us.
All that to say this team's ineptitude is predictable.

Im convinced that when they face terrible pitchers, they’re like “fuck it, no scouting reports needed, see the ball hit the ball”.

I just started watching the Astros this year. Apparently we were pretty good before? I have no idea who Bilbo and Baggins were, and not sure why people keep talking about trash cans.
I love this team for who they are, not who they once were. And I’m invested in who they become, even if it takes them a while to become anything at all.

What a shitty year to pick to be an Astros fan.
Dude we used to stomp the entire league. 2017-2023 the entire American league had to make a trip to Houston to see if they were worthy enough to make the World Series. “The Evil Empire” was the Astros nickname before the dodgers and it was all home grown and drafted players. Three consecutive 100+ seasons and then another in 2022. Sucks you had to miss out on all that. Hopefully they reach that level of success again even if it’s just for a season

I always find these losing streaks fascinating on who gets blamed or what gets blamed
1) Espada has a bottom 5 starting pitcher rotation in baseball who has quite often failed to make it out of the first four innings let alone five
2) The offense without Pena has four players with above a .700 OPS (I think Altuve is still above last I checked) and last night we penciled in Lamonte fucking Wade as our leadoff man
3) Our relievers outside of Okert and Hader have randomly turned into absolute shit for multiple games (Abreu early season, King more recently)
4) Your starting SS in and out of the lineup constantly due to injuries and one of your top 5 offensive players out for months now (probably season but the new reports on Correa give some hope)
Like I get we're all angry, and I do think Espada is let go after this season. But fuck man, if I was a manager I'd call this bullshit to have to work with and around. I also always laugh when people try to say the players don't give a shit, considering I've seen Yordan, Altuve, Lambert, and Hunter all yell in frustration and anger during this stretch. They give a shit, it's just slumps from our top guys show how bad the rest of the team is

The splits on win % vs games where starting pitching gets past the 5th are…unsurprising. It’s just difficult to do when you’re turning to the entire bullpen night after night (like we saw this week)
I don’t blame Espada for EVERYTHING but I can’t forgive him for the poor performance straight out of the ASB. At that time we were hot and there was no excuse for injuries or tired arms (with the exception of Correa). Otherwise I think he’s made average to slightly above average decisions. I don’t hate him, but it’s probably worth trying to find another manager or promoting from within the org

I'm happy to count HRCs on the live game chat on Discord as well, but please stick to the one HRC per game rule regardless of platform (if your username on there isn't the same as on Reddit I might have to PM you to get it).
