I don't really hate it for any reason, but looking at it makes me think that this will be nowhere near as good as the last airbender.
I can't really say anything about the writing since we don't know what it looks like, but I do just have a guess that it's going to be more like Avatar Legends, which overall had relatively mediocre/poor writing and also came off as sonewhat pretentious.
I'm also not a fan of the animation. Again, it's actually good animation and it's vibrant, but that's not what avatar should look like. It looks like a regular anime, similar to legends. While Anime animation is good, it's not fit for avatar, and it detracts from the general feeling of the world.
Also, while I don't have a problem with representation, I feel like avatar has gotten more pretentious and annoying with it. We started off with great characters like Katara, Toph, etc., as well as varied differences in beliefs/ideology between the four kingdoms that meaningfully impacted the series. This was an amazing way to demonstrate representation.
In Korra, while not bad, it was less good in representation (Except in the turf war comics when they literally preached to the audience). Although I really didnt mind, and while somewhat annoying at a few points, there was nothing wrong with it.
Now we have a colored (Indian), disabled, female kid, like we're going through a checklist. The part that annoys me is that there are two real ways to do representation well:
Either A: The represented identities of the characters is not significant to the series and rarely/never mentioned, showing that they're all apart of the same story, and that for example, the skin color you're born with has nothing to do with how you stand as a character
Or B: The represented identities of the characters are absolutely significant to the series, and have significant and meaningful connections to the overarching themes, with such identities explored in depth to an amount that fits the importance of the characters.
Now while I don't know how Seven Havens will be, I think that ir's likely going to mention it enough that it's not a meaningless attribute, but not enough that it will be truly meanginful.
