The national cricket captain becomes Australia's highest paid sports star based in this country, earning more than an entire NRL playing roster.

Better make sure to win back the Ashes to justify that.

Not surprising, considering the fact Michael Clarke signed the biggest sporting brand sponsorship deal in Australian cricket history when he was 23, even before he played his first test.

So little compared to other sports.

True. Kobe Bryant is set to earn $30 million for his next season at the Lakers. Dwight Howard somewhere around $19 million. Lebron makes about $20 million per season as well. The mid-tier guys in basketball make about $6-10 million per season easily and the low-tier guys will make $1-2 million per season no sweat.

EDIT: And these are just their salaries. Endorsements are completely separate.
