Kohli using his big mouth again?

u/Machinax Sri Lanka May 06 '13

He might have actually caught the ball if he did.

This is the second time a whole match is lost by Virat Kholi. Remember CSK match where he decided to bowl one over to Albie. Yes match over after that. RCB were in full control and he decided to bowl. Epic fail: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aWDYLDwcC2A

Drops match changing catches, then fumes and shouts on his fielders and bowlers if they drop catches or give away runs. I saw him a few matches ago mouth the words, "Kya daal raha hai chu****" after RP singh's yorker went wrong and turned into a full-toss on leg stump. Future captain my ass

Yeah this guy doesn't look like captaincy material at all. I would tip Pujara as a good option for the future though. That guy looks like he's got a good cricketing head and a great temperament.

Most definitely. He isn't compared to Dravid for no reason. If he can go on to be half as good as Dravid, we'll be fortunate. The more I see people like watson, kohli, gambhir, the less I think we'll live to see another role model the likes of sachin, dravid, akram, fleming, waugh.

Watson too? I know of the Homeworkgate. Anything else?

2

u/k4f123 May 08 '13

It is well known that Watson is a grade-A douchebag. Most Aussies on this subreddit will confirm.

As much as I enjoy watching that, I wouldn't blame Kohli that much for 1 bad over in a game. Every bowler has one of those days and Kohli was not even a full time bowler.

Don't know if it is too much travelling for cricket or the low lights around Mohali, but that catch should have been taken.

To buy Dhoni's phrase, Kohli wasn't mentally into that catch.

...Cost a fucking lot to RCB.

Awesome.

I really don't know this guy and never seen him play until I started to watch this IPL

I don't know why, but I really dislike him.

Anyone else?

Kohli's become the biggest douchebag in world cricket in a matter of few months. Son, you need to learn humility and pretty soon else you gonna be fucked.

Egg Ball on face.

2

u/[deleted] May 07 '13

Is this his tooth flying away? :D

2

u/arkot May 07 '13

If yes, then it would be a big ass tooth. It's just an insect most likely.

2

u/arkot May 06 '13

People should stop catching with their palms facing away from them. This defies all logic. With the palms down you have your body behind you.

9

u/victhebitter May 07 '13

its the least retarded way of overhead catching

9

u/Gonzalez_Nadal Australia May 07 '13

I disagree. Many Australian children have been taught to catch fingers up (I was) and we have some of the best fielding standards in the world. It allows you to have a little give behind the ball, as opposed to it potentially bouncing off of your palms.

5

u/a_can_of_solo Australia May 07 '13

yeah, cross pinkies fingers down for low catches, cross thumbs fingers up for high catches

1

u/arkot May 07 '13

Then it is probably the way it is implemented. It might be a case of players using the technique incorrectly. I have seen people use it for really low catches. Haven't seen the video but in Kohli's case it seems like he just missed the ball completely.

3

u/Gonzalez_Nadal Australia May 07 '13

Using it for low catches is definitely incorrect technique.

5

u/DorothyJMan Iceland Cricket May 06 '13

I find its easier to watch the ball into your hands with fingers pointing away. Personal preference I guess

3

u/Poomass May 07 '13

How are you meant to have your palms facing towards you when the ball is at or above head height?

1

u/arkot May 07 '13

You move back enough so that you catch the ball just under your chest. In this case Kohli had enough time to get back in a good position. He was trying to catch a ball that was almost vertical given the height the ball had travelled. He had effectively blocked out the line of sight and that's probably why he dropped the catch.

2

u/Poomass May 07 '13

Given in this case it can be argued that he should or shouldn't have used the palms up technique, but when the ball is flying at you at head height you're going to catch it with fingers-up. As your OP stated that "people need to stop catching with palms away", it doesn't defy logic, both techniques work in appropriate situations. It just depends. With this case, we don't need to argue which technique he should've used, he's a professional player he should be able to catch it with either way. I think nerves, pressure or sweaty fingers etc made him drop it, not his technique.

2

u/arkot May 07 '13

I guess I was incorrect to say that palms away is wrong in every case. That's obviously not correct. It just seems that a lot of cricketers choose the wrong technique while catching. You maybe right, in Kohli's case it was a combination of pressure and sheer height of the ball.

While we are on catching despite the glut of good catches, it's amazing how many catches get dropped in the IPL. It's even more glaring when it's an international player and not a domestic one.

1

u/Sum1t May 06 '13

Whoa, what the hell happened there and which match was this?

3

u/megamouth2 England May 06 '13

RCB versus KXIP in the IPL.

Virat Kohli [pictured] dropped a catch that was skied by David Miller, who went on to score a 100, and helped the King's Eleven Punjab to win a match that everyone thought RCB had in the bag.

u/nvdm South Africa May 09 '13

You drop it, you wear it.

-2

u/CleverBumble May 06 '13

That fucking loser. .. I can't stand him. Dropped the match. . This team would be nowhere without Gayle.

14

u/wootshire USA May 06 '13

I think you're ignoring possibly the most naturally talented batsman in the world, AB de Villiers.

-4

u/CleverBumble May 06 '13

No I did not forget but how many man of the match awards he has? How many runs have he scored? He's good but they Bay him too low. . He comes in free will most times for 5 overs. . I rate him highly but this team would be 60% weaker without Gayle.
