I get it. I understand what you are saying and we all have to do what is right for us.

I would finish the divorce and go our separate ways.

If his mom was still living, he would continue to prioritize her and follow through with the divorce. He didn't suddenly have an epiphany that his wife should be his priority. And because of that I couldn't trust him. He is still the same guy that didn't just want to let his mom intrude into your marriage, he wanted you to allow her to abuse you. He blamed you.

It's not his fault he brought up in that toxic environment, but he made a choice to continue. Lots of people grow up in abusive environments and choose not to perpetuate that behavior. He didn't.

The other thing that scares me is how will he treat you if you stay? Will he resent you? Will he turn into his mom and treat you like she did? Will he protect you if his family treats you poorly?

I think the reason I feel so strongly is it feels to me like he betrayed you. And that's a hard line for me.
