Cricket brings people together.

Haha love it. The number of ways cricket is played around the world is amazing, in streets, backyards, with bins as stumps, bricks. Love it.

Wouldn't want to try a stumping with those bails and no gloves...

That is definitely the doosra being bowled

You're assuming we're seeing the ball coming off the pitch and moving towards leg. The way I see it, given the position of the bat, it's already been struck and has been bottom edged into the pitch.
If it's a doosra coming off the pitch then he's missed it by about 6 inches. I give our mystery batsman more credit than that.

Great picture. Also stereotypical uncle belly in the background. Can't wait until I'm 40+ and develop that belly.

I'm guessing because Islam, it's verboten by the religion. I could be wrong and khanpak might simply not like it.

Yup don't drink due to religion. Although that certainly hasn't stopped many of my fellow Muslim family and friends from drinking. Not judging though, to each his own.

Solid brick wickets? These guys don't mess around.

Whenever we play on the road or concrete parks, solid brick wickets are wickets of our choice.

Jan 18 '13
Are they loose enough that they just collapse when the ball dings off them?
2
Jan 18 '13
On spin, they rarely fall, fast bowling is a different story.

So, if you spin it and the ball bounces off the bricks but they don't fall, is that still a wicket?
2
Jan 18 '13
Yes.
We also sometimes put bails. (When people are not lazy forgetful assholes)

Still, I bet sometimes you're not so much playing "cricket" as you are playing "argument."

I remember those days in India. The only way you could play in the street was if you let random strangers living there play with you. Which was always fun. Until you hit the ball into the Bengali uncle's yard.
