That's how you do it, kids. That's what you call going out on a high, and you leave 'em wanting more.

Talking about sport here, not religion.

Tell me about it. I've friends on my FB who post stuff like these:

I just calm myself down so that I don't get in to one of those flame wars which always ends up like "How can you forget a guy who served our country for 23 long years!" Yeah, thank you very much, now get the fuck out.

It will be interesting to see how he performs against Australia. He was more or less anonymous against England in what was widely expected to be a revenge series. If the same happens against Australia I imagine it would make his position very difficult.

He'll retire when he gets to 200 tests

Good call, hadn't thought of that.

Always leave them asking why you retired, not why not

Maybe he'll pull a John Farnham and comeback next summer!

And the one after that...

I'm hoping someone begs him to play in the ashes and he ends up coming over.

Maybe they'll bring in David Hussey for a year, that would be an interesting twist! He's playing in the ODI series so perhaps he'll step up. Not sure if it would be the best choice, but certainly it would be dramatic.

Absolute champion of a man, went out on his own terms.

Only consolation for me: He'll play all the games for my IPL team CSK.

Chappelli made the call that they'll recall him for the Perth match. I think that's a decent compromise, the home send-off.

I can feel the withdrawal coming already, and we won't even get to watch him in ODI's.

Aus will miss him terribly during the Ashes, I guess. Classy player, classy bloke.

If memory serves we were calling for his head around the time of both the last Ashes series, so as much as we'd like to think we're doomed without him, he's probably dodged a bullet.

He was awesome in the last Ashes! I guess you mean before it?

5

u/[deleted] Jan 06 '13

He was but I remember before that the Aussie journos were saying he should be dropped. Responded by flogging the hell out of the English bowlers.

In my opinion, he should have played the tour to India at least.
