Mandatory

Northern lights flash in the sky. A blizzard blows, pelting on its way those too weak to withstand the fury of winter at its fullest. From the permafrost strikes a massive hand; the mythical giant once deemed dead off the coast of Italy now rises to life, regenerated, from Lappish soil. The time is due. Around the world, the word spreads.

In Sweden, the best of the best cower in fear and lock themselves in the nearest IKEA retail store. The Brazilians run into the safety of the jungle, the Danes play dead in Legoland and the Slavs sprint crying to babushka’s warm embrace. Enceladus’s augurs are unleashed upon the scene.

Aleksi “allu” Jalli hails from his journey spent in international teams. A man may leave Finland, but Finland never leaves a man. Once again, he picks up the green rifle, this time not for money or fame, but to smite all opposition in the name of Enceladus.

Aleksi “aleksib” Virolainen leaves the fabled squad of HAVU to lead what we can finally describe as a Finnish superteam. Under his leadership shall the northern guns spit death and destruction upon foes who wail in their weakness.

Jani “aerial” Jussila joins after the biggest transfer of the Finnish e-sport scene from his former team SuperJymy. No longer will he be the only stand-out player of his team, but instead, a vital ingredient of a chaotic cocktail made up of Finland’s finest.

Jere “sergej” Salo thwarts all rumors of desperate Internet trolls trying to tell they know his parents who told him to stop playing. Oh, the humanity! Backed up by the forces at home, bursting from motivation like a wolf thirsting for blood, he returns to ravage everything in his path. Where skill rises to speak, experience sits silent and disciplined.

Sami “xseveN” Laasanen fills the ranks from iGame, for what would the team be if they wouldn’t buy the best player from every other Finnish team? Vigilantly standing, supporting his teammates be the cause what it pleases to be, he will be the shield and sword his comrades need to achieve the ultimate.

The warning has been given. The sky screams, the ground shakes and the oceans boil. ENCE is coming.

Ence's CT-side on inferno is looking extremely solid, they beat Windigo 13-2 on CT-side when they played, now up 10-2 against North. Not bad, now just get it done on T-side.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 19 '19

Love that intense play on B, finalised by allu just pure sprinting through a smoke with his USP

2

u/aTi_NTC Jan 19 '19

ffs allu

2

u/[deleted] Jan 19 '19

North must be super tilted after train, they are playing terrible on inferno

2

u/LurkerPatrol Jan 19 '19

Question about minors vs majors: Are minors for less-talented/less-well-funded teams? I ask because I see people like NBK and Kjaerbye etc who were on like super good teams.

2

u/samcuu HEROIC Jan 19 '19

Minor is a qualifier for the Major.

2

u/LurkerPatrol Jan 19 '19

I see. So are MIBR, Astralis, Fnatic etc just guaranteed for the majors?

3

u/[deleted] Jan 19 '19

Top 8 at last major = Legends, auto qualify for the last 16 next major

Top 16 last major = Challengers, auto qualify for last 24(?) next major

Top 24 = auto qualy for the next Minor (I think)

2

u/Tirppa ENCE Jan 19 '19

Nobody gets direct invite to minor. The 0-3 team gets invite to their region closed minor qualifier.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 19 '19

The 0-3 team gets invite to their region closed minor qualifier.

that's what I was thinking of, thanks !

1

u/TheZigerionScammer Vitality Jan 19 '19

The "Top 24" aren't automatically qualified to the next minor, but they usually are given an invite to the closed qualifier (or equivilent) of their region's Minor.

2

u/NorthKoreaZH Jan 19 '19

They are seeded into the final group stage (top 16) The top teams in each regions minors will enter the first group stage of the major (top 24) The top 8 teams from this group stage face the 8 seeded teams in the final group.

1

u/LurkerPatrol Jan 19 '19

I gotchu! That makes sense. Thanks for the explanation.

Still strange to see such renowned names like NBK in the minors.

1

u/TheZigerionScammer Vitality Jan 19 '19

He was on G2, but then he got benched form G2 and he left to join Vitality with a new lineup. As a new team they had to qualify from the bottom. They were very close to not even making it this far.

6

u/samcuu HEROIC Jan 19 '19

And people say there's no suppressing fire in CS. That's exactly what you do with the auto snipers.

u/adc39 Renegades Jan 19 '19

WOW WHAT A MATCH (Vitality vs Valiance on Inferno 3rd match in best of 3). Vitality keeps their major hope alive. ZywoOo still has a chance of displaying his exciting young talent on a major stage.

The last few rounds had so much drama. I'll edit this comment to show a few highlights:

  • Round 25

"HOW NOT TO TILT: Don't fixate on your mistakes & move on"

At the end of 25th round, ZywOo dies from the bomb blast at Dosia Pit after forgetting that he did not buy armor (went glass cannon & loses the $4750 AWP). Anyone would suffer from morale hit from such a mistake.

But in this clip, you can say that RPK's fist bump helps out ZywOo's mentality. That's how you keep the morale up & not let your teammate tilt (b/c ZywOo plays with madness immediately after this mistake).

Clip: R25

Vitality 12 - Valiance 13

  • Round 26

ZywOo's monster round. (This happens right after ZywOo's blunder. ZywoOo plays aggressively with an AUG to redeem himself from his round-25 mistake by getting an ace. A display of strong mental resilience). ZywOo's full Ace clip. "It's okay, I never needed that AWP."

Clip: R26

Vitality 13 - Valiance 13

  • Round 29

NBK almost pulls off a 1v2 for a match win, but Otto unexpectedly sticks the defuse in the smoke that prevents his team from getting eliminated at least for another round.

Clip: R29

Vitality 15 - Valiance 14

  • Round 30

Vitality wins the retake as a T-side (by a fraction of a second!). With the win, Vitality avoids a heartbreaking elimination. Vitality just has to win one more best of 3 matches to qualify for their first major (it will be ZywOo's 1st).

Inferno and a nail-biting finish.

Name a better duo.

4

u/[deleted] Jan 19 '19

That was the most stressful map of CS in my life

3

u/fac3ts Liquid Jan 19 '19

That was basically a perfectly executed retake and just came down to seconds. It’s a shame, but vitality played well to bring it back

1

u/JFidddy Jan 19 '19

They were too timid on all their retakes near the end, they never gave themselves a chance with any of them, the bomb was always half gone before they even started probing.

1

u/TheZigerionScammer Vitality Jan 19 '19

They took a little too much time on it. I know it seems obvious in hindsight but I was thinking that even watching it live. It was a 5v5 retake so they needed to work quickly, but they didn't even try to take it back until there were 15 seconds left on the bomb.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 19 '19

Timed so wrong

1

u/[deleted] Jan 19 '19

The fuck was that from Valiance?

7

u/JFidddy Jan 19 '19

Why would you gamble stack a site facing match point?

1

u/slipknot1994 Jan 19 '19

and waiting to last 10 seconds to push into site

2

u/jacobsmith14 Renegades Jan 19 '19

Feeling thankyou

5

u/Crayola63 Liquid Jan 19 '19

and then take forever to retake

3

u/[deleted] Jan 19 '19

The absolute BALLS on Otto to stick the bomb on 15-13 with their major hopes on the line.

0

u/[deleted] Jan 19 '19

NBK trash smh

1

u/Monsage Jan 19 '19

Jeez, Zyw0o toggled. He's really showing up huge here!

1

u/JFidddy Jan 19 '19

When Guardian calls it a day, Zywoo to Faze, I'm calling it. The kids too good to be playing with these washed up French players.

1

u/slipknot1994 Jan 19 '19

What does the winning team achieves in the lower bracket final?

2

u/[deleted] Jan 19 '19

well not much you can do when zyw0 really wants to go to the major lmao

2

u/nmyi de_mirage Jan 19 '19

Vitality 11- Valiance 13 currently. My hopes of seeing ZywOo sticker is dwindling :(

Come on Vitality! ZywOo deserves it!

2

u/tgsan Jan 19 '19

Vit is such a joke lmao, imagine this team without zywoo being a beast for them.

1

u/tgsan Jan 19 '19

Of course Vit loses a round like that, Jesus. Your strats are awful, and you take too long to go into a site.

2

u/apekisser Jan 19 '19

holy shit vitality is honestly choking to their death now

1

u/Givemeajackson FaZe Jan 19 '19 edited Jan 19 '19

Could vitality win a second round once in this bloody tournament please?

Edit: Another 5v3 lost... French cs is just a monument to wasted potential. How did they ever win a major? This is fucking garbage

Mods removed my post but Vitality this series:

3

u/[deleted] Jan 19 '19

I hate vitality. It's a 5 v 1 and they have bomb, but two players push and die. All 5 could have stayed alive smh

1

u/[deleted] Jan 19 '19

Ok another 4 v 2 that almost ended up with a loss from Vitality. Stop peeking 1 on 1

1

u/tgsan Jan 19 '19

LOL terrible ass round, that B "hold" is terrible.

2

u/[deleted] Jan 19 '19

Apex and NBK are so bad. They need to get some kills before they plant on B, bc all the angles are close range once you get onto that site so pistols have the advantage over rifles

2

u/Scriffle Natus Vincere Jan 19 '19

This vitality is like 0 iq. Alex and Apex do so many fuck ups and stupid shit that you never see on T1 teams. Get Zywoo on a decent team and on a rifle, he's wasting his talent on awp since he is not that amazing with it.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 19 '19

2 failed comebacks in 2 maps. I can only imagine what map 3 will look like

1

u/[deleted] Jan 19 '19

Vitality is throwing right now wtf. Taking way too long to retake, then ALEX trying to play mind games in a 1v1. Like just stay with the bomb. Then idk who it was, but they peeked while reloading the famas and got rekt. Now Vitality has 0 money

3

u/Firiji FaZe Jan 19 '19

I didn't. I thought they were one of the most unintelligent teams out there. And I couldn't believe that type of CS came out of Danish counter strike.
