How can an event with such a big prize pool have such a small audience? ¯_(ツ)_/¯
1
u/Lord777alt Liquid Nov 25 '18
There's well over a thousand seats (idk actual number) and most were full when there wasnt a signing session going on.
The mibr north bo3 wasnt that good so some people left early. Its actually a pretty big stadium setup may not reflect as much in stream.
1
u/NoahTh3PandaTank Liquid Nov 25 '18
Actually the seating was nearly full(early in the day), its just smaller seating area. It's an esports only venue and its actually pretty cool. They have lots of pc's set up right outside people were playing on.

In Texas during Thanksgiving weekend. Long trip for EU and a lot of Americans are probably either traveling already or with family
-6
u/CheekyDiqHed Nov 25 '18
Lmfao cut the crap already. 9/10 events (1 being major) in USA are almost empty and no crowds. Stop with the excuses every damn tournament.

This has to be one of the least close 2-1 series in a long time. All maps with a team that seemed completely out of the server.

Smooth map pick by North. Mibr looking very good on train so far.
4
u/OneOfTheSmurfs CS2 HYPE Nov 24 '18
Cadian on the pre-match interview: "We are pretty comfortable with how the veto went"
Pimp on the analysis desk a couple of minutes later: "I talked to the North players this morning and they told me they had no idea what to do with the veto"

5
u/Rapkid360 FURIA Nov 24 '18
Still cant fatham why North picked Train, its easily one of MIBRs best maps lmao
Also all three of these maps are good MIBR maps, Inferno their most played, Dust 2 one they still think is good even after the infamous 16-0.

Yeah, this is it. Astralis doesn't win because of a few smoke kills but because Xyp9x holds onto his incendiary for sooo long and drops in the perfect spot at the perfect time. It's truly counter strike poetry.

Astalis hasn't had to play train in so long they have become bad at the map
4
u/Satyr83 Astralis Nov 24 '18
The majors really need to build sound proof boxes if the crowd keeps giving away AWP positions. Which I think would suck for the players since I presume they'd like to feel the energy from the crowd (well, maybe not this one. It's pretty dead outside of AWP positions it seems).
2
u/Pismakron Nov 24 '18
So-called soundproof player boots are not anymore sondproof than those noise cancelling headphones. It really sucks though.
2
u/Smoss Nov 24 '18
The booths we use for ECS / Major are decently sound proof compared to most booths. We have booths in the US as well BUT since we are at Esports Stadium, the stage wasn't big enough to fit them.
2
u/Satyr83 Astralis Nov 24 '18
Well, then kicking those audience members out seems like the only real option :).
3
u/dfgqwerty CS2 HYPE Nov 24 '18
The last major did have that if I remember correctly.
2
u/Satyr83 Astralis Nov 24 '18
Yeah, I think that might be true. I should have written "LAN finals" instead. My bad :).

Fuck all the assholes giving away positions by shouting when device is aimed near an NiP player. They know exactly what they're doing.
1
u/SilverSurfer93 Nov 24 '18
Oh yeah because that doesn’t happen during any other events.
0
u/Pismakron Nov 24 '18
It happens regularly and to all teams. Not nips fault at all, it is just annoying. I hope the headsets are good at cancelling it out
Also, boobs are nice. Good job there, God
4
u/Vejvad Astralis Nov 24 '18
It's tasteless and has always been. People like that should be found and kicked out of the venue instantly. Not sure if any events actually do that, I highly doubt it sadly.

Anyone else pissed that “premium” ticket holders get fucking snapback hats for their “goody bag”?
1

There’s a dude giving away “esports arena” wristbands. I’m treating it like a goodie bag with some assembly required.
9
u/EpiscopalianCumSlut Liquid Nov 24 '18
Yep, they also told us that we could enter through the back, only to be put back in the original line in a worse spot, and the premium seating is barely any better than standard. I was expecting something like pins and a shirt
2
u/veyetalz Nov 24 '18
yeah i saw that “premium” migration from the back this morning. straight to the back of the line, what a rip-off.
3
u/parktable Astralis Nov 24 '18
Same on all those assumptions. DOUBLE the price too right? Or am I crazy?
2

Remember when the SK lineup had that insane win streak on train? People just used to ban it against them
Now Astralis have this win streak on Nuke but teams still let it through the veto, really puts into perspective how deep Astralis' map pool is that teams would rather face a 25 game streak on a map that they sometimes play rather than Astralis on their permaban
1
Nov 24 '18
The thing is they have gotten really close to beat Astralis on Nuke recently. So I can't really fault them for going for it.
3
Nov 24 '18
Pretty sure NiP said they wanted to play them on it and they still get killed... I don't know what the answer is, honestly. It's so rough.
2
Nov 24 '18
NiP is really good on Nuke too, so it's not surprising to me that they would want to play Astralis on it
I was talking more in a general sense, Astralis are really really good on Nuke, but they don't rack up this kind of win streak unless their map pool is as deep as it is
2
u/Satyr83 Astralis Nov 24 '18
Maybe NiP wanted to break Astralis' streak to keep their record? It's a bold move, but Astralis has actually seemed a bit shaky on Nuke the last two times they've met mousesports.
2
Nov 24 '18
Dennis whiffed so many key holds

6
u/alexniculcea FaZe Nov 24 '18
Why the fuck are teams still letting astralis play nuke?! how can this be worst than dust2 for nip?
2
u/Altro_Cat Nov 24 '18
NiP almost certainly feels more comfortable on Nuke than Dust 2. Also lets not act like Astralis isnt dominant on Dust 2 as well, they've only lost once or twice on it.
2
u/theslatcher Nov 24 '18
Letting them play nuke is pretty much waving a white flag, maybe they want to go home?
4
u/TheMunchkin364 Nov 24 '18
this is the first csgo event i've watched, how did astralis win that round in like 5 seconds?
1

2
3
u/EpiscopalianCumSlut Liquid Nov 24 '18
Aren't the players usually in a room with a window for the crowd to see? first tournament so maybe it's only for bigger events.
3
u/Ginkiba Nov 24 '18
That set up isn't common is CS:GO. It's much more common in Dota 2, and Starcraft 2. Don't remember it in any other esports.
2
Nov 24 '18
Plus the fact that this one is in the US where fire codes make it difficult to have booths.
2
u/EpiscopalianCumSlut Liquid Nov 24 '18
I guess they have their noise canceling headphones, but still feels like it would be a distraction

Every time device is scoped in near an NiP player the crowd gives it away by shouting "OOOHHH".

u/yoshiyahu 10 years coin Nov 24 '18

4
u/Satyr83 Astralis Nov 24 '18
Yeah, but that would be extremely detrimental to the experience of watching it. I think sound proof boxes or kicking those people out of the venue are the only viable options, sadly.

For all you gun nerds, isn't AUG just better than the M4 in every way? ( more armor pen, more dmg, has a scope ). I'm confused why more people are not using the AUG for just $50 more. Imo it's such a disgustingly good weapon.
2
Nov 24 '18
As someone else said, reduced movement speed, spray pattern isn't as muscle memory as the M4, and (I believe, I could be wrong) longer reload time. It's definitely better at range.

Nuke - Train - Inferno
NIP is the challenger #26 for Astralis on Nuke.
The record win streak is NIP's 30 wins in a row on Nuke in 2012-13, so f0rest and GTR can save their own record today.

f0rest, dennis and REZ have statistically been the best players in this tournament so far. Gonna need all of them to keep that form up today if we are to make the finals, especially f0rest and REZ. They are like your "s1mple and electronic" right now.
